Possibly what you are looking for is “Proustian moment.” Proust wrote a story about drinking herbal tea and eating madeleines, which triggered a memory from far back in his childhood. Smelling something, seeing something, or tasting some that brings back a forgotten memory is a Proustian moment. Or perhaps this is a different sensation.

I hated those scholastic book fairs. They had all those really cool and interesting books but I was poor and had no money to buy them.

There was this kid who’d save his money all year and buy everyone a bookmark. We called him jesus.

My birthday was on a chilly Tuesday of October 2007. Using Habbo Hotel after finishing school.
