I read about this guy lives in Barcelona but works in London he figured out it was cheaper to commute to and from work in London and home in Barcelona than to live near work.
That way he is paid London wages but live with Barcelona prices.
It is kind of like my oldest brother lived in a small Texas town called Seguin but worked in Austin. Yeah drive was long but soooooo much cheaper.
Imagine an hr commute 5 days a week. That's 10 hrs a week just on travel Take away vacation weeks and let us say.. 45 full weeks worth of commutes; that's 450 hrs a year. Work at that job for 40 years; that's 18,000 hours. 750 days wasted commuting. How much money is roughly 2 years of your life worth? And not 2 years you can sleep through.
The guy living in Barcelona and working in London said he mainly worked from home and at most went in 3 days a week but usually 1 or 2.
And as for my brother he worked from home as well and only went into work 2 times a week on Saturdays and Wednesdays. So in jobs like those commuting is no big deal.
I also assume Barcelona to London was on a train... so that's easier.
My point wasn't aimed at you or those you know specifically. It was just a bit of math to illustrate what it can do on a 9 to 5.

Oh my god, it's really true what they say about americans and geography...
Barcelona ---> Paris ---> Calais --> Dover or w/e stone --> London. Hi, my name is WHAT?
I misspelled Calais as Cialas..... that's an american thing... it's a dick-hard pill 100% murica..
Eh... I'd trade Houston for San Fran. CA can keep LA though. Austin is dope AF, DFW is.... just eh... has it's good and bad but they even out for me. Sacramento is the equivalent of Waco more than it is Austin. Screw both Waco and Sacramento. Also, San Diego vs San Antonio is a toss up for me, I love them both.
Anyway, this country would be 1/3rd of what it is without both CA and TX. We're in it together guy!
This situation is leading to an influx of people from New York and California and other high cost states moving to lower-cost states, which in turn causes things in those states to increase in cost. STAY THE FUCK OUTTA TEXAS!!!
