I think that is the worst level of selfish, forcing a pet, or worse baby, into a diet that cannot sustain them just so the owner/parent cam feel self righteous.
It comes down to exposure and the modern supply of food. I would like to see a vegan starve in the forest, then they wouldn't mind snapping the neck of a rabbit.

You chose the most genetically weak teeth I've ever seen.

Meanwhile my canine teeth are actually longer than my incisors. If they were a tad longer, I'd look like a vampire.
The middle "omnivore " I'm pretty sure is a dog, which isn't a true fucking omnivore. Wild dogs in Africa don't eat corn, they eat meat. And if it wasn't for our ancestors eating meat, the human brain wouldn't have had enough protein to evolve to this level that we can have stupid fucking arguments with vegan assholes who try to use science they don't understand to make a false point.

There’s actually a fair bit of evidence that dogs are omnivorous, but they will obviously prefer sources of meat over other types of food. Most conventional dog foods, especially high quality ones, even include some fruits and vegetables for essential nutrients, whereas the same high quality cat foods are almost exclusively meat based.
I guess using a pig or a sloth as an omnivore wouldn’t suit the agenda. If you want to be vegan, be vegan. It’s a personal choice made feasible for most by thousands of years of technological and societal advances. Don’t use incorrect revisionist science to explain yourself, have the strength in you convictions that you can stand by them without needing to deceive validity into them. Humans were not “meant to” eat any one thing. We evolved to survive by eating what was available and do best on a diverse diet, especially in natural conditions. In nature you’ll find even hard carnivores and herbivores often stray from their diets as need or desire dictates. You’ll also find that teeth alone are not the deciding factor in determining what category an animal fits into, and that herbivore, omnivore, and carnivore aren’t the only classifications am animal can fit. It hurts my head to see pseudo scientific nonesense being used to legitimize provably false opinions.
They also chose to conveniently ignore the fact that humans prepare their food using primarily their hands, and have for a decent amount of time. Meaning, we literally don't have the NEED to have extremely sharp/prominent canines to tear flesh, OR defend ourselves, because we've already done it with our hands. The person added "knife and fork" as a joke, but its actually insanely relevant. On top of which, there's creatures like geese who have "tomia," which are serated, and they use them partially for plant material. Not to mention Gorillas, which are primarily herbivores. And chimpanzees which, since they're trying to use evolution as an argument, become insanely relevant since they're so closely related to us, and are omnivorous.
also, we tend to become more immune to blood and such when we are exposed to it more. We're currently decently sheltered from things like that in our society because we have no reason to be exposed to it, but killing is something humans can easily adapt to. Heck, just talk to anyone on 4chan and you can see just how quickly people can go from "sick to my stomach, how is this happening?" To "wow, another dead body." Suffering isn't something most of us are ever okay with, but killing and suffering DON'T have to go hand in hand.
I'm not trying to say I have a problem with vegans-- you do you, and hopefully be happy. But don't try to Trick people into following your lifestyle using smoke and mirrors. If your lifestyle can't stand strong on its own, then none of these games will ever be enough to save it, and you'll just turn it into an organization like Peta, obnoxious at best, a joke at worst, and someone that no one truly takes seriously anymore
Each person has their own opinion. The general guideline is that a vegetarian does not eat animal flesh, but will consume animal products like milk, egg, etc. a vegan does not consume animal flesh, but also does not consume animal products, or products derived from animals and their components. While not exclusive to veganism- a proportionally larger sampling of vegans will refuse to wear or use products involving animal products such as leathers, cosmetics and soaps with animal fats etc. They are more likely to refuse products tested on animals, as well as foods prepared or served where “contamination” by animal products is possible (such as off the same grill, or “picking” meat out of a dish like a stir fry. Vegans may be so specific as to refuse products where even a process of extracting or preparing chemicals and compounds uses animal products, even if no measurable trace of those compounds is in the final product.
Not really super relevant at this point, but I always find it odd when people get upset that a part of the animal was used in a different product. Not talking about vegetarians or vegans really, just humans in general. I understand when they get upset if an animal was killed exclusively FOR that part (ie: ivory, shark fins, etc), and when animals are tested on in inhumane conditions. But if an animal is being killed for food, and they get the steak and all that etc, isn't it GOOD if someone takes that horn left behind and uses it for something? Or the skin, Or the hooves, or, yes, even the rectum. Why is it more acceptable to let all that stuff go to waste just because it's not as conventional? Isn't that practically the same as killing an animal exclusively for its tusks? Isn't that what nearly drove the bison to extinction?
Again, not talking about vegans and veg's necessarily since they're opposed to animal products in general, just a reaction I've observed among people
I agree with you, seeing that the animal has already been (humanely) killed (for food etc) you'd rather make full use of its products. It's better than having one eg one bull slaughtered for meat and one slaughtered for its hide
I might not want to eat livers or tongue but itd make me so much madder to find out a lot of an animal was going to waste. I'll use something with weird stuff ( I mean, aren't sausages cased in intestines ? ) but not if it's not good? Like if they're putting something in there to curb costs but it makes the product bad ? Sorry if this sounds weird it's late
There are always people out there that eat those (think delicacies) and sometimes they can be used for science. I think that everything (in general) has a use and we can minimise wastage if we take things we may regard as waste and get them to people that will use them. Damn that just sounds like recycling with extra steps.
Homo erectus utilized fire and cooked his food. This is evident in the archaeological record (dated remains of cooking fires), and as yet he is the first Homo spp. proved to have cooked food. Tooth size in post-H. erectus lineage (i.e including neanderthalensis and us) has decreased markedly, including our canines. It takes less jaw and tooth strength to chew cooked food, and the cooking makes more energy and nutrients available. This is a main reason that our brain complexity has increased so much in the past 1 million years.
Summary: We are omnivores. We evolved from omnivores. Eat whatever the hell you want.
You're welcome :-) I am a (very mature) archaeology student myself. I didn't cite references but this subject is well-researched and easy to find. Here is one reference just for fun: https://www.nature.com/articles/nature16990
With corruption rife in most sectors of industry and society, and and ever increasing population and decreasing resources, I think it is a sign of devolution that humans mock and insult other humans who don’t eat meat. Get your priorities straight , I eat meat sometimes and try to eat organic or free range , I think non meat eaters are commendable.
Wasn't there something about how we don't have enough land to grow enough crops if the whole world decided to change to a non meat eating life style ?
If we have an ever growing population and decreasing resources, a vegan diet wouldn't be viable. Plus not everyone can safely have a meat free diet, and more who can still have to take vitamins and supplements since a vegan diet doesn't provide everything needed sometimes.
It’s contentious and complex. There’s very compelling arguments that bugs fed on waste would be the most sustainible food source. There’s layers of economic and social baggage as well since the food industry is global, and major changes can effect people all over in unknown ways good and bad. I can say that the intention behind it may be commendable- but if you look at the right angle we can find a reason to say almost anything is really. Taken to extremes things like recycling our dead would be good for the planet- in theory at least. It depends on how far you want to take things, and what we are willing to give up. Someday you may be homeless- that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t sleep in bed to save that money just in case. It also doesn’t mean you should buy a $100k bed either per se. Being responsible doesn’t always mean taking things to extremes- corruption is in every industry including agriculture. But we are all just trying to do what we think is “right.” Isn’t that commendable?
Vegivore?
