My whole school wore chinese dresses and whatnot for chinese new years. We're an international school. I don't even have a chinese person in my class. No one gave a shit because we all felt awesome.

I find traditional Chinese clothing such as the qipao or cheongsam so beautiful, too afraid to wear them though cause of cultural appropriation and all that. If it's not a specific item of clothing made for a specific event, such as a funeral or something and they don't find it offensive, then good on her for wearing it.
