I am Dutch yeah, but I learnt German in high school. Luckily, I’m pretty good at speaking foreign languages without a very noticeable Dutch accent, which is partly just something I have a knack for, but I also started studying phonetics quite young. This made it easier for me to imitate the correct sounds instead of my native sounds, which sound similar, but are slightly different, because I knew exactly where and how to pronounce them in the mouth
Same. I use IPA etc and read mouth diagrams and read where the place of articulation must be. My dissertation for university regarded phonetics and sound symbolism.

Did you study linguistics as well? I just finished my first year
I try and overhear my buddy's conversations whenever it's in Polish because I always want to know if the people he's talking to are saying something about me.
