I thought the SF bay had bad cyclists until I drove in New York. We have critical mass- where hoards of cyclists take over major city roads, but it’s moslty all at once. But NY... it’s like every 2nd or 3rd bicyclist legitimately is trying to die. It’s insane.
Car- truck- bike- doesn’t matter. Either use the pull out and let faster traffic go by, or move over. The one thing I am thankful for in situations like that- the thing that keeps me from just going around like a bat out of hell? All those cops in traffic. If it wasn’t for traffic they’d be spaced out, and that looks the sort of road that some of those very fine cars might engage in spirited driving on if they weren’t held up. Every time I’m stuck behind some slow jerk on a windy road I take that as the almighty looking out and preventing me from getting the ticket I would when I came up on one of those cops at the speeds I’d be going. Funny thing? Almost every time that happens there turns out to be a cop just up the ways or who comes up behind so not so bad I guess.
That road clear and me in a sports car? Fuck yeah I'm gonna rip that shit. If I can afford the car I can afford the ticket. If that's the road that goes down from the Golden Gate to
Sausalito (can't really tell) I've also biked that... but going up it's almost impossible to go in a straight line due to how steep it is. I went to the side and walked my bike specifically because I didn't want to stall traffic.
Good man. I always like to cross over to mount Tam, hit those roads and down to baker beach. Some days it’s crowded with traffic, but most of the time you can find lots of clear road. When we were younger those were popular night driving roads. There’s also Muir Woods over there. All good roads on a car or bike.
I wonder if he is the last of a bicycle race where they shut the road down. There seems to be spectators watching and a couple police cars...maybe he is the last of the peloton.
