My Uncle Buck was married and divorced 3 times before he passed. His first wife set fire to their home while he was asleep in bed she did it on purpose hopeing he die in it. His second wife cheated on him with other men. His 3rd was taken from him. Her family took her because she had a stroke and was like a child. So he let her go so her family would take care of her. He couldn't help her he was broke. But every single holiday or get together all his wife's we're welcome. Every mother's day each got a card saying how he is thankful for the children they had together and the ones they already had and allowed them to call him Dad.
He always said he had kids not step kids and his own. All the kids that ever were his step kids or his own blood were and always will be his kids.
Uncle Buck sounded like a very awesome dude. Did he were a fendora, smoke cigars an drive a junker that back fired an sounded like a shot gun goin off? Just wondering.
Lmfao no but he did look a bit like John Candy around the belly. lol
Other than that he was bald on top, black hair, squished faced, beard and mustache, 6'4, large fingers and hands his fingers were like bananas big and fat he got it from years of working in a steel mill but loved working with his hands like wood work. He wasn't jolly lol he was more of the grumpy uncle you don't hate but don't want to spend more than an hour with lol.
Everybody’s situation is different, maybe that wasn’t an option. You don’t know every backstory, so don’t judge. This guy is trying harder than most to raise his kids through a hard situation, which would obviously be awkward for him, and that’s admirable.
Being in this exact situation and acting a lot like this guy (and getting shit for it) I can tell you the divorce was a positive. Without the stress of the marriage their mother and I can concentrate on the children rather than the power struggle between us.
the idea that someone is a bad person or even a lesser person than a happily married one because they got a divorce is archaic. Not every marriage is meant to be. Not every relationship is something that can be fixed. This is true not only for marriages but also for family and friends.

2. technically speaking the role of a parent is to care for the child and be a tool for their education. No more no less.
