Zodiac signs are just random things that apply to everyone. Here let me describe you. "You are a human who will do things. You know you should do better things."
If you make a vague statement that applies to everyone, then why should it be surprising when it applies to everyone? It's been pretty well confirmed that you can read out any random zodiac sign to someone and they will believe that it is 100% accurate no doubt about it totally fits them can't be wrong. Only to learn that you just read to the Leo the horoscope of the Pisces.
@xvarnah I meant I’ve never met someone who’s said, for example, ‘I’m a Gemini but the characteristics of a Gemini do not match my personality.’ Granted, someone who buys into it just a little bit is more likely to agree with the traits and the signs have enough blanket attributes to apply many people regardless of their sign (I.e., ‘your sign can sometimes be impatient but generally caring toward others’). But even among people who don’t believe in astrology, I’ve never heard someone say ‘my sign is just plain wrong’. Or even mostly wrong. Or even kind of wrong.
@spiderwoman Yes, I’m already aware of this and have seen the test done before. As with many things, knowledge of the ‘facts’ still doesn’t seem to change people’s minds about it.
Yes, we may know that it's fake, but I've been to highschool. That shit is more common than we think it is. I've seen a girl skip work because her horoscope said she'd best take a day off.
I mean, I'm Aries and there's traits from just about every sign that could fit me, but no one sign really does. Not to mention the traits change from place to place. Supposedly Aries are both organized and chaotic, generous/caring and selfish, independent and babies. Pretty counter-intuitive overall, and since it's generic enough it's almost impossible at least some wouldn't fit
Ah, but there is a beautifully horrible thing known as confirmation bias. I mean, this horoscope is right with three of four things, so it's obviously still right, right?
@spiderwoman Regarding the class skipping, she might genuinely believe in that, but theres a good chance it was just an excuse. I have skipped classes because it was raining (I had a 2min walk), or because I walked to the ground floor only to realise I forgot something and I was like 'well if that ain't a sign I should go back to bed, then what is ?'
And I dont buy into any of that shit, I just woke up and didnt want to go to school, so I took the first half cooked excuse I could find.
