The first can says "40% BIGGER THAN 1?.75OZ CONDENSED SOUP CANS" and the second can says "30% BIGGER THAN 1?.75OZ CONDENSED SOUP CANS."

I just can't read if that second digit is different between the cans. I assume it is.
It doesn't fucking matter, it's a measure of volume. Either it's 40% or 30% more volume or they are comparing each to different cans as the base... or they are two cans from a significant time frame apart (like that is such an insane idea).
I just found the Reddit thread and here was the general conclusion:

In the case of this (I couldn’t read the writing where it mentions oz.), I’ve read many reports that percentages don’t add up. For example, it may say “30%”, but really, it is 10%. I assume they can get away with this due to vague wording.
