Would that be considered a new letter or does it just change the pronunciation like an accent. Any german speak care to confirm. Or Nordic or dutch yall have em too dont yall

When I was learning German, my instructor didn't count them as new letters, just made sure we knew to pronounce them differently.

Well we don't have them in our alphabet, so I guess they're not whole new letters. More like an accent kind of thing.

In Swedish å, ä and ö are considered separate letters, distinct from their cousins without rings/umlauts.

That’s why you should have ø, it’s easier to write and more distinct.
