I don’t know that this is accurate. We ant really know unless we actually encountered a cat girl- however, the specifics of the nature of “cat girls” matter. For instance, if we are talking about some unique but henceforth unknown species which happens to have traits that resemble humans and cats but no direct relation to either, their culture, Cat girl instincts and behaviors, etc. would be near totally unknown. If we are talking about some genetic or magical hybrid between a human and a cat which produced a “girl with cat ears and a tail,” then there are still some unknowns. Cats have certain instincts and drives which cause them to think and behave differently than humans. Mating and the corresponding rituals and nuances are also different in cats. We aren’t even really sure if it’s pheromones or what that initiates “cat attraction,” in that sense. So getting a cat girl could be as simple as smelling a certain way that attracts her, or feeding her, or even through dominant behavior.
@guest_ I'm not sure what you meant, but I don't think "Ontario Instinct" was it haha. But either way, it depends, as you say, entirely on the "cat girl" in question.
'
If it's an entirely different humanoid species, it seems a bit strange there would be no males, unless the species was genetically modified. If it's a separate species, it's unlikely they'd be overtly attracted to humans on a pheremonal level (so far i've seen no real evidence apes and such are attracted to humans, though I've never looked into it. I know Iguanas have been observed responding to females cycles). If, however, they HAVE been genetically modified, then I'd assume they modified it using actual cat genetics as well, meaning it seems it would be equally likely that they'd be attracted to male cats and male humans.
'
If, however, they are simply humans with surgically altered features, then the meme rings correct-- you will most likely be no more or less successful than other attempts with regular girls
If I could upvote these comments more than once, I would.
Now after the scientific debate I need a lawyer's answer to tell me wether or not it would be considered bestiality.
I'm not a lawyer, but I know enough about laws regarding sex to tell you the legality would vary based in a.the origins of cat girls (alien, genetic mod, surgical procedures) and b. Where you were in the world. And laws would be written in response to this issue in many places.
However, assuming that cat girls would be people (capable of abstract thought, complex decision making, complex emotions, and being self aware) then many places would probably determine it was not bestiality. In fact they would probably invent a new word for it.
Assuming cat girls were capable of reproducing with human men, I would guess that it would be made legal in a number of places. Unless their offspring had issues regularly which made such a union considered a poor decision. If offspring weren't possible I think that some places would legalize it, but it would take longer and probably require a social movement.
Haha I like how we're all taking a very serious/non-chalant perspective on the pros and cons of cat-girl sexuality.
'
But yeah, as @thekaylapup said I think it would depend on a few things.
'
If it's a human who just had surgical modifications, then it's a non-issue, since it, as far as I can tell, becomes no different than breast implants, or the people who get horns put into their heads. Won't be everyone's cup of tea, but doesn't really make them "cat-girls" on a biological level any more than horns make people "goat people."
'
If they do actual genetic modification, or, again, it's a different species, then I think it comes down far more to ability to communicate, comprehend, and consent first and foremost
I imagine being genetically compatible for reproductive purposes COULD be a potential consideration, however given humans have sex with infertile humans (and inanimate objects) on a regular basis, I feel like this would be more of a secondary issue.
'
I think if they were more dominated by cat genes, behaviours, and instincts, it would very much be considered beastiality. Location, as Kayla says, also would play a factor. Some places may consider it abhorrent regardless of all these factors, whereas other places (here's looking at you, Japan), would potentially be inclined to view it as legal since it's such a hugely fetishized part of their culture already.
'
Either way, it would also open up a rather dark side of the sex trafficking world, especially if, humanoid or not, the cat-girls DID respond to pheromones.
Interestingly there's multiple cases of humans being involved with other humanoid species (mermaids, aliens, llamia, werewolves, elves, vampires, angels, centaurs, etc etc etc) in multiple formats (comic, book, movie, television). Heck, even whatever the heck he was in "Beauty and the Beast." In most scenarios where this is presented, I can't recall beastiality actually being raised as an issue. Rather, it's usually more a race issue, sometimes with one race being considered lesser than the other, etc etc etc.
'
Admittedly, this is fiction, but there hasn't been any global outcry about this, which I think gives a fairly decent read on the general mindset most people seem to have on the issue: if it can communicate on a human-level, comprehend and consent, it's no longer "bestial," and no longer "beastiality."
'
Somewhat off topic, but people were discussing something similar about Pokemon in a Gengar related post I think
@xvarnah- I have edited the post (it was supposed to say: “catgril instincts” not “Ontario instincts” lol. And “near unknown” not “neat unknown.” But- you make good points, however we simply don’t know. We’ve never on record encountered another humanoid or animal human hybrid species, and we would need to know the history of their world and evolution. The extreme similarity to humans suggests that there could be biological similarities including pheromones. It is equally possible they wouldn’t notice or be attracted to ours as it is that ours would somehow be stronger or more appealing due to genetic diversity or other unknowns. Likewise cats tend to clean themselves when our smell is on them- but they also like smells like feet or body odor we find repugnant because their senses are tuned to find and even enjoy biological decay and be more averse or indifferent to “sweet” aromas. So you may we’ll be right, but we’d need more information.
Not @ anyone- just general to the discussion: on the subject of beastiality I suppose it would largely be cultural and individual. I’m sure there’d be groups that opposed and were morally indignant to “interapecies relationships,” because no matter how “human” they were unless they were literally humans that just had surgical cosmetic alterations- they would be a different species regardless of if alien, genetically engineered, etc. in fact- the “catgirl” race might be disgusted at the thought of interspecoes breeding and see those cat girls who do so as mentally disturbed. In fact- the “sexy cat girl” we see might be the equivalent of a human who marries a roller coaster or their sheep. There could in fact be “cat men” as well if cat girls were real. It may even be more a “racial issue” where many would see the issues and specifics the same. The “cat girl” in media may be much like the role human women are often shown in- not reflective of how most really behave but shown as fantasy.
@guest_ that makes much more sense haha. At first I thought maybe it was going to be like a research facility like "Ontario instincts and behavioural sciences" or something like that haha. It seems your autocorrect/spell-check doesn't recognize catgirls as a species yet!
'
But yeah, this is all entirely speculation, obviously. And what sort of cat girl we're talking about-- surgical, biological, or created via the mixing of genes-- plays a huuuge factor
Lol. No worries. And agreed. But... it is valid speculation. We may very well one day encounter a humanoid or non humanoid species with what we consider observable human or above capacity intelligence. So while it’s all speculation, it’s good thought exercise for if we ever do. No matter how much we speculate we likely won’t be able to foresee many of challenges such an encounter presents- but we could get some grasp and at least hopefully be mentally prepared on some level.
@guest_ for a second I thought maybe Olive garden had undergone some drastic changes since last I'd been there. Now I understand, and you're... possibly safer there. Providing no knife-fights break out over breadsticks. Either way, enjoy!
@xvarnah- thank you. It was very good. They have a brownie on their “featured” menu that was good- but not quite what I wanted. It’s more of a cake than a brownie. Par for the course I suppose for a place that markets a “taste of the old country” but would have you believe the old country happens to taste exactly like minute noodles and frozen grocery store apetitezers. I’m not complaining of course. As you quite properly state, I’m in it for the bread sticks. Besides- I’m American. Shitty food in large portions is part of the culture. I enjoy it on both a spiritual and more basic level. I love the self satire of chain eateries, and the way they perfectly encapsulate the human condition. Plus I just lack the sophistication for anything more than a third grader could handle. I shouldn’t be allowed in public but no one in authority seems to have figured that out yet, so perhaps I will see you at the TGIF sometime.
Haha oh dear. What is it with desserts at restaurants always looking better than they taste? Tbh I've only been to olive garden like... 3 times?
'
Psssh sophistication is overrated! And Tbh I think the people in positions of authority are a bit preoccupied keeping the people in authority from going out in public currently haha. Everytime one of them does it seems like disaster strikes.
'
Do you know I'm not even sure if there are TGIFs in Canada? I've actually never been in one and have no idea what they're like
Some light research suggests there are a few, Ontario, Halifax, Niagra falls came up. To be honest- at least around where I live, there aren’t that many left here it seems. Good point on the preoccupation of the authorities. It seems that presently the most qualified person for cabinet positions through much of the world (the US for sure...) is a baby sitter for spoiled youth who was implicated in the imbeselment of charity bake sale money but never convicted.
I know I'm late, but I volunteer to go explore the depth of Japanese niche stuff with @guest_. A classmate saw me reading an article about necrophilia and bdsm in Buffy the vampire slayer during a lecture the other day, so my reputation is already fucked anyway, and he could even back us up!
Lol. I appreciate it @purplepumpkin. I’m going to have to sit this one out. I’ve seen the darkest sides of men. I know how deep the rabbit hole that is the human soul goes. I’ve looked upon the darkness and had it look back, and I didn’t look away when it called my name. I’ve been to the edge and seen over the edge of the black to a place indescribable to those who have any chance of going to heaven, wrapped myself in its cloak, and understood why a man would choose to call it home. It isn’t that I can’t go back- it is that I choose not to. I understand what it is to be human completely, and reconcile the depths of our nature with the heights of our potential. It’s a road I’ve taken before and do not need to walk again. I cannot go with you. It’s a journey one must take alone. If you go... best of luck.
Th...thank you, I guess. It feels like you're the villain at the 100th floor of a huge dongeon^^ That path seems really unsafe, I'm gonna ask my mommy if I can go alone.
Lol. To be clear: I didn’t mean I chose go back FROM the darkness- I meant I choose not to go back TO the darkness. If that matters. As alluring as the silken cloak of sin can be- I must walk another path. But to face evil... we must truly know evil, and evil and I... well, we have known each other since before the womb...
@xvarnah : consider it a typo, as I'm completely clueless about what I should have written and what the 'problem' with dongeon is! (not a native speaker^^)
@guest_ : ooooh ok! I had completely misunderstood your comment!
Btw my mommy says she doesn't give a shit, so I'm off to discover the root of all traumas.
@purplepumpkin haha it's actually "dungeon," so you were pretty close. Dong is slang for... a certain piece of male-exclusive anatomy. Given we were talking about exploring the darker side of the Web, particularly where Japan is involved, I thought perhaps you were combing Dong and dungeon and making a play on words of some kind :P
I mean technically a lot of universes where catgirls are things they are like, bought and paid for products that are not for sexing or for dating. They are simply another commodity to replace the lack of slave house staff so technically it would be much easier to get a girlfriend but it would probably be illegal.
'
