This is the reason paper cuts hurt so bad. A knifes edge cuts cleanly while paper is very jagged and tears rather than cuts

Actually paper cuts hurt because the cut is usually too shallow to draw blood, leaving some minor nerves exposed to air, making it more painful.

Scanning electron microscopes are amazing, you should see mites, larvae, and nanofibres under there. I used to do work on them as analyst and every time I could I got so excited because it is so satisfying.
