Ty for taking the time out of your day to make sure negativity was the first thing on this post. I knew someone would be chomping at the bit to comment that on this post. Glad we could get this out of the way early. :)
the monarchy lost most of its power in the 1830s and by world war 1 they were basically just figureheads. By 1936 they had lost so much power that they only had ceremonial rights and no real power to do or influence anything. Not only that but they were obligated to not influence anything as they were required by etiquette to remain a completely neutral party in basically anything domestic.
At this point I feel obligated to point out that the entire point of the scene wasn't about him having a right to be heard, it was reminding him he doesn't have to be afraid to speak. Clearly that went over the heads of a lot of people, which is a shame. The entire movie has a good message that I know a lot of people on this site could do with hearing. Sadly sometimes people want to distract from that, but hopefully the message gets out to those who need it just the same.

Lmao this was downvoted as soon as I posted it. x)
"reminding him he doesn't have to be afraid to speak" isn't that what bethorien is doing? and by criticizing him for speaking his mind you're telling him that he doesn't have a right to be heard, or to speak? seems a little backwards to me
In the UK you don't have a right to not be afraid to speak. The government can and has locked people up for the things they have said. free speech isn't a right there.
"lets make people feel good by saying objectively wrong things and out of context screen grab posts and potentially put people in danger by making them think that saying whatever you want has no consequences"
@under_fire as bethorien said they have no obligation to listen to me. Demanding I be quiet so their opinion can be heard is the exact opposite of their opinion... which is also hypocritical.

I never said they had to be quiet, I merely thanked them for making certain the first thing anyone might see on this post was something negative :)

At this point I'll bow out of the conversation as it really is detracting from the reason I posted it to begin with, but y'all have a great day!
Just to add my two cents, the film was about overcoming a nervous condition that caused him to stutter. It had little, if anything, to do with anyone's right to be heard or not heard. I understand that the post was meant to be inspirational and whatnot but the context of this is very important
@bethorien King George may not have had much power, but he played a crucial role in moral during the war, which was the point, his being able to speak was what made that possible.
