For those unaware:
A woman visiting a zoo JUMPED OVER a protective barrier and landed in the jaguar exhibit. She did this knowing it would put her in with the jaguar. The cat saw her and attacked.
No one sympathized with her because that's why the barriers were put up so the jaguar isnt being punished for acting like the wild animal that it is
It's not going to get interesting because whether she admits to that behaviour or not (and there were witnesses so that should be easy to verify), she still admits she was leaning over the barrier, which you're not supposed to do, and either way she's not seeking to have her stupidity taken out on the animal.

I find it interesting how the article in question also posts a picture of another jaguar at a different zoo roaming "overhead just days after one attacked a woman."
She isn't denying anything. She's come out and taken full responsibility. Also, she didn't go into the habitat, she just crossed the barrier to get close to the cage and either she reached through the bars or the cat did. Either way, she has taken responsibility.
Both had humans who knowingly jumped over the fence into a potentially dangerous animal's habitat...sounds similar to me. Thank goodness for the jaguar
I meant it in that Harambe was killed becasue it was a clear and present danger to a human, while the jaguar wasn't a danger at the point that they said they weren't going to kill it.
I would be 100% fine with shooting the jaguar if it was in the same situation as Harambe.
Also one was a small child, so "knowingly" is questionable at best in his case. Kids get some slack, once they hit teens and should absolutely know better, they are a different subject.
Except his mother admitted he asked and she said no and he went anyway. It suggests a lack of discipline and ignoring authority. Also he was a very small child and she wasn't watching long enough for him to climb over the damn wall.
He was 4, 4 year olds do not understand that full range of consequences. Seriously, if you are going to hold a 4 year old to the same standard of decision making as an adult you have serious problems.
Except how many 4 year olds walk through the zoo and don't climb the fence? They know what a fence means. And if he's so young and doesn't know then why wasn't Mom watching? "Because she had other kids to watch". Excuses. If you know a child doesn't understand a simple concept like a wall then you'd better be watching or find another chaperone to help.
How many DO, a lot. But they are usually caught in time. There were numerous bystanders who just watched the kid climb in. And seriously, just get off your high horse. Kids are fast and have an insane nack for getting into trouble in no time. There is an obvious difference between a grown ass adult pulling this and a kid barely out of diapers. Again, if you can't see that, that is your problem.
"Get off your high horse?" I thought we were having an adult discussion no need to be rude. As a zookeeper and someone who works with potentially dangerous animals I simply see a pattern of people disrespecting their space. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they're attacking you.
