Country music is a mix with me. There are some amazing songs and there's some that cause my ears to explode. Same with other geners. I love classic old country the most but I have to be in a very particular mood to listen. It isn't that bad as people make it seem.
I liked the odd country track here and then, some of it's pretty deep and true, but then I discovered Bluegrass, namely pre 1970 stuff. It's about loving and dying and late and beloved women and loneliness and god, and even in its happiest moments, it's blue.. I mean once I heard stuff like this, most Country is just muzak

Sometimes I listen to A1 and B4 in a loop for so many times, my wife will bring me a strong Bourbon Ginger Ale and ask me what's the trouble.
I'm not a fan of country music. In fact I outright dislike it. However, I do know that it's not the lyrics that are the issue. There are certain cadences, rhythms, and cord progressions prevalent in country music that I find truly unpleasant. I've noticed this is not limited to country music but does tend to be more widespread in the genre than others. It's interesting, at least to me, because I do enjoy rock music and sometimes there is very little distinction between the two. This means of course that there are "country" songs that I like and "rock" songs that I dislike. For instance I'm not a fan of John Denver but I really like "Leaving on a Jet Plane".

I was driving down a dirt road in my pickup truck with my dog drinking a beer, looking forward to riding my horse and cracking some bourbon after asking my sweet honey to bake me some cornbread which I would accompany with some cold ice tea after a long day working on the ranch.
.
This accurately encapsulates every country song ever written
It's songs about me
And who I am
Songs about loving and living
And good hearted women and family and God
I just rly rly REALLY have to be in the mood for it
Take me home
To the place
I belong
