That's because you weren't born a century ago. In the fifties, photos of scantily clad women weren't nowhere near as common as now.

One thing I noticed about Marilyn Monroe is she doesn't even have that much skin showing or boobs out most of the time. There's obviously plenty of pictures you can find of that, but if you look at all of her pictures, most of them are pretty modest by today's standards. She doesn't even usually have cleavage out.

When I was in middle school this was an actual trend. Instead of coats or hoodies you could literally go to Belk and buy a potato sack. I don't know if it was widespread and it didn't last long, thank god
