But actually take the 8 am class. Yes, it is horrible, but you get used to waking up the time needed you'd have to wake up for work, and since you finish that class earlier, you can go to the bar or beach or gardens since your classes are done earlier. Or you could study. Either way, you'll have more day in your day to do stuff.
My 1st class was at 11 and I finished my last at 4:30 and that’s with a two hour break in the middle, so if you’re good at planning the schedules you can get your days mornings and nights
It also depends on how much time you need for assignments or studying. I never studied, but I'd need a good 4 hours a day for assignments, between labs, essays and artwork. It annoys me that you have to take art classes, English classes, history classes, political science classes, a speech class, an economics class and a few electives just so you can get an associate of Science degree. Like, shit, you're making me re-live high school for two years for what?! I JUST DID THIS! That really screwed up my education path, as for over half my classes I was just like "Why the fuck am I here?" Then you add on the fact that those classes now cost money. I was fortunate enough to never go into debt over it, but I can only imagine for some people. They should just scrap 75% of what is required for an associates' and just let you start specializing earlier. If you go to a trade school they aren't going to make you fucking learn what major death occurred in 44 BC. (Julius Caesar).
Tbh 8AM classes aren't that bad if you don't have a lot of classes afterwards. Going from 8AM to like 5 PM (or even 8PM sometimes in my case) with only a few breaks is deadly, I know it might sound enticing to stuff all your classes into two or three days a week to have freedom for the rest of the week but you're gonna hate going to school if you do that. Which, y'know, is kinda demotivating if you wanna finish that degree. Luckily I've learned my lesson in the first semester and spaced out my classes a bit better in the following semesters.
8AM classes with only one class afterwards are great imo, you have tons of free time AND you'll get stuff done since you'll be in a studying mood.
Depends a lot on the type of person you are. If you’re disciplined, if you’re structuring your life around your responsibilities or if you’re flailing to somehow manage your responsibilities while living life on impulse. Not hating either way, and well- there’s more than one school of thought. Most jobs will have you up early as will kids and the like, so we can say either it’s good to get used to that, or we can also say you may as well enjoy the time in life where you can sleep in. If you aren’t sure and are inexperienced in running your own life, as many college kids are, the safest bet is to either do classes later or make sure your early class is one you can drop and isn’t super heavy.
It’s tempting to want to take on a lot in the name of efficiency or success- but with most things it’s easier and you’ll disappoint less people including yourself by taking on more as you realize you are able than you will by taking on too much and then failing, doing poorly, or quitting what you can’t handle. Becoming a true adult is in large part learning who you really are, evolving into who you want to be, and being honest with yourself about those things. Life is largely a balancing act that is about prioritizing that which is most important to us. Our priorities change with time- and it’s a balance to not miss out on life but not short change our future selves either.
