People forget the good that Britain did
For example, getting rid of the reprehensible tradition of wife-burning in India
I've never heard a leftie mentioning that example of Britain standing up for women's rights
I love learning history and to be fair all books on history always have to have a villain and the hero. So if you read a book on Mary Queen of Scotts Queen Elizabeth is a villain. If you read a book on Queen Elizabeth Mary Queen of Scotts is a villain.
If you read a book on how France helped America win independence from England King Louis XVI looks like a hero. But if you read about the French revolution he and his wife Marie Antoinette were villains.
So I dont think of one country or one person as being truly evil unless what they were doing was truly evil. Yeah some did evil things to other countries or their own but it was for the good of their country or for another's country.
It really does come down to who's point of view you are learning from.
