I read an article about this. Apparently, Switzerland has a really low crime rate where even walking at night isn't risky. It's mostly very clean, especially it's public transport. The public transport is also always on time(98%). Switzerland has many natural beauties(lakes, forests, etc.). It's border control is pretty impressive too. Many holidays are given to students and workers so they have more family and leisure time.
Switzerland is said to be ridiculously expensive though.
Yes. The cost of living is higher because the cost of labor is higher. The cost of labor is high because, for the most part, business' that want to sell product in switzerland must have offices/manufacture in Switzerland. They are also heavily independent when it comes to energy and food production. It takes 10+ years to receive citizenship so most migrating workers don't even bother with switzerland as they can find jobs in countries that pay well enough without a high cost of living. Aslo, they aren't EU so every foreign worker has to go through the visa process.
@cakelover Culturally homogenous? Switzerland has 4 official languages and very diverse cultures among the people who where born there. They have 8.5 million inhabitants out of which 2 million are foreigners, so people without Swiss citizenship. Spread your prejudices elsewhere.
Is it weird I've never found it risky to walk around at night? I mean, don't get me wrong, I've been sliced in the foot during an attempted robbery at night while I was walking around, but even that didn't change my mindset... I mean it was a meth-head, that could have just as easily happened in broad daylight.
