I would like to know the science behind this, can this be possible. After the procedure and the hormonal therapy change can she produce fertilized eggs? Since it's still his/her own DNA is it possible to produce an embryo? In googling it and the results are a bit of a stretch, still very interesting to look into.
I've never heard of transgender remaining fertile post-op, or being able to carry another person"s eggs. Not that I've done an intense amount of researching into it. Either way sounds like it would have a lot of the same ramifications as incest

Edit: I'm not sure why this was a reply, it wasn't really meant to be, but I guess it fits here, too
Transwomen are incapable of producing and fertilizing eggs, though that may change in the future. Many save sperm because after a year or so on hormones, they no longer produce any, and so some will save sperm for if they plan to have children after transitioning.
People born men can't have children. This isn't anti trans or anything, it's a fact. You can have your penis turned into a vagina but you can't ever get pregnant. You don't even get periods. Her doctor would have told her this, so this article is obvious bullshit. This is something that can be researched in seconds. There has never been a successful uterus transplant to someone born a man and even then there's no guarantee the individual could actually get pregnant

My dude, I highly doubt she’s planning on impregnating herself. She’s either probably a lesbian and plans to artificially inseminate her partner, or plans to use her own sperm to inseminate a surrogate so she has a child that’s still biologically hers
Maybe this post is not so much about her actually carrying and giving birth to her own children, but being able to still 'father' children (surrogate or with a female partner)?
I wondered that, but in that scenario it doesn't really seem particularly noteworthy; there have been several instances of trans freezing their sperm/eggs in the past
The reason some of us are talking about how she can't impregnate herself is because whoever posted this was under that impression, hence the Alabama remark. If there was a different title then people wouldn't be assuming she meant herself.
