They analysed proteins in the eyes using the radioactive decay rates of carbon 14, as well as looking for the the 1960's marker when nuclears caused a spike in carbon 14. Females can also only reproduce after reaching sexual maturity at 150. So the age they got from this fella is not exact numbers, but estimated between 292-496 years.
