Yes! Preach! I feel like no one gets it, until it personally affects them in some tragic way.

The worst part is feeling like people don’t take you seriously when you finally admit to having suicidal thoughts. You feel like they just think you are trying to get attention but sometimes when it gets very bad you have these racing thoughts and they envelope you and you feel like the only escape is to just do it. Even if I text a friend to help me calm down it’s so difficult to get that help cause you have voices telling you you don’t need to bother your friend, that they won’t understand, that you’re weak that you’re pathetic and probably just trying to get attention. Usually you end up pushing the friend away too. Suicidal thoughts are a hard thing to live with and I understand this post so much. If you have a loved one that has admitted something of the sort to you talk to them and try to just be there. Especially when they don’t want you to be. And for those that do, I can’t thank you enough because I know it’s not easy

Everyone has suicidal thoughts though. It's called "L'appel du vide".

Yeaaah this is a little different from wanting to walk on to a train platform or jump off the edge of a building. And I know you don’t mean to but if someone tells you’re they’re depressed and have suicidal thoughts it would be very confusing for the person if you’re like yeah everyone has it though. That person may think it’s normal and end up never getting help :) I didn’t downvote you btw

Oh, no, if it's serious, get help, of course.

I admire kcat for being this open. Because of painful comments I rather keep my mouth shut. People can be very insensitive.

Honestly this is the first time I’ve opened up about it in public though I guess this is almost entirely anonymous too. I completely understand the reasons behind why you’d rather keep quiet. One of the first people I told was one of my closest friends who told me that other people have it worse and proceeded to tell me examples from people she knew who were going through bad times. Later I find a text from her to someone who was worried about me saying to not worry because I was “all talk”. I want to talk about it now cause most of us find it really hard to be open about it but because of lack of info a lot of people who would actually understand and help would never realize just how bad it can get. Just because we don’t go ahead with our plans do not mean we don’t struggle with the fact that we have them or feel so hopeless we had to make them to begin with. But one of the only things that can truly help us hold on is the support you get from people.

We all have our struggles and we’ll have good days and bad, but it doesn’t invalidate anything anyone feels especially when it’s powered by mental illnesses too. If you ever needed to talk you can always @ me cause even if I don’t know your name you’ve always got a friend in me. We’ve gotta have each other’s backs and pull ourselves up not put each down x
