I'll stop driving when teleportation is practical, or I develop a connection to the Speed Force. Maybe. Sometimes I need to haul shit, or I just like driving.
Driving will become one of those things that you can learn how to do but why would you? At least in cities. Someone will make a company that lets you drive cars, they'll have tracks with some stripped cars so you can wild out in a car. They'll basically be selling that feeling.
Yeah it is! Which is exactly why people will be selling that type of fun in my hypothetical future, where cars are a thing of the past, and automated transportation is the norm.
Cars will never a thing of the past in America. America is literally a bunch of roads with cities at cross points and the sheer amount of people that live outside of cities and/or require the ability to haul things around with them isn't going to let cars stop being a thing.
Cars are good, the choice resource we run them on bad for earth, solution change what cars run on. Its at least way more realistic than getting rid of motor vehicles.
The problem with that is the limits of the other options. electric cars cause strip mines for the materials and have awful longevity of power supply. You'd have to replace the bit a lot more often. The power also still has to be created somewhere which would most likely be by burning fossil fuels. Unless we found a better way of making electric cars AND completely switched over to thorium and wind/hydro it would still be a moot point
So those are some of the current problems/limits with the other well known options. I was stating that it is much easier to fix the fuel than to change peoples need to use cars. I think it is worthy of in depth research. Pointing out the problems is the first step to fixing them. :) I mean human ingenuity made cars, electric cars, and developed ways to harness wind/hydro. All it takes is some very dedicated people to develop a practical version, maybe it take ten years but I don't think its moot to try and improve.
Oops, forgot the y.
