I get what this means in spirit, but while on the subject I figured I’d mention that it’s all a matter of perception. For instance- recently Texas has been made fun of for their extreme love of weapons and “freedom” for making it legal to carry a sword... Texas is often contrasted against the liberal California (which the state even has an actual rivalry with and tries to poach companies and jobs from,) but... Liberal California has always had it legal to carry swords openly in public. So while California keeps its reputation as an overly restrictive weapons hating state and never banned swords- Texas is further lampooned for being “crazy” for allowing swords.
Likewise- the world may view America as its “Texas,” But Texas is one state out of 50, and if you go somewhere like Austin you might think you were in parts of New York or San Francisco. The notoriously gun happy Texas may allow the ownership of weapons restricted elsewhere- but actually has tighter laws on WHO can own a gun than many states known for being strict on guns. Texas DOES bar those with certain violent crimes and mental history from permit- and requires certified instruction- the “restrictive” California requires a short on paper test available at most any gun store and no other training. So while Texas has its faults like any place- perception and reality often aren’t aligned.
