I mean it's their individual choice how they respond. Either way, idc what your gender is: don't throw the first punch if you're not prepared for it to come back at you.
unpopular opinion: This is why equalality will never truly exist, if a girl punches a guy back, she's acting in self defense and is a strong indivual, a guy does it, he's an asshole and gets arrested. Having been in a relationship where my exgf was violent, to the point of trying to cut my throat, never did i hit her back. after getting arrested and paying a fine for carrying a card knife into court by accident, I asked the judge if she knew why i was there, she said it was a domestic violence matter. I told her "correct, i'm the victim, next time i will strike back in self defence before calling the police due to this fine" she was not impressed. When asked why i would do it, I asked her "is it self defense, yes or no", she responded "yes", I paid my fine and left.
I'm reminded of the incident where a guy made the mistake of being born, and also wearing an unusual jacket. A gaggle of soul-sucking humanoids got on the same subway as him and took this as their cue to harass him incessantly.
.
This went on for quite awhile. The guy ignored them or asked them to stop. He was much taller than them, and definitely bigger. They wouldn't leave him alone.
.
When he tried to turn away, one of them took off her stiletto heel and hit him in the head with it. Hard.
.
He turned around and socked her right in the face - probably a pulled punch, too - and she went DOWN. Flat on her back (I'm guessing a position she's not unfamiliar with).
.
The guy ended up in TEARS because of the guilt he felt over hitting her.
Tbh, (and this is just me expressing my thoughts not saying your view is wrong btw) idc how weak she is in comparison - self-defense is self-defense. She could have done real damage with her blatant assault. Her verbal assaults were already really hurting this guy.
.
She initiated the violence.
.
I think it's great to moderate your response when possible so you don't accidentally kill someone or roundhouse kick a 13 year old, but giving anyone free reign to be abusive because they're less capable is not something I think should be expected of anyone.
That's what I mean by moderation, but I don't think anyone should be expected to restrain themselves from responding to violence because of the gender/size of their assailant. Great if you can avoid it, but not reprehensible otherwise. The guy didn't use excessive force, he didn't throat punch her or start kicking her or go after all the other witches that had been harassing him. He was hit and he defended himself. Largely instinctual I'm guessing.
.
Tbh even if the woman in that story lost a tooth or got a concussion from being hit in the face, in this scenario my reaction remains: if you don't want to be hit by someone much larger and stronger than you, you probably should avoid trying to put a stiletto heel through their skull. They're happier, you're happier, and you don't end up going viral for being a terrible person and having your ass handed to you
