Evil doesn't exist only because we have freewill. It exist because we have freewill which means we get to choose to be good by fighting the urge to be evil. Or we don't fight it and do evil things. That is what free will is.
It be like being placed in a wood shop and you have all the toys and wood to build whatever you want. You can build a house or a spice rack. Or set fire to the whole place. It's your freewill.
The reason heaven doesn't have evil is because God took out all the possibility of sins.
How did he do that? Do you no longer feel lust (as an example) or you just can’t act on it? Seems either way he’s kinda affecting your free will. Or is it just not considered a sin once you get to heaven?
Your body wants to reproduce. Biological imperative. It wants to be comfortable. Nice clothes, food, drugs, blah blah. These are all simple processes linked to biological responses to chemicals etc. your thoughts- “you” are in part influenced by the electrical impulses that are a “mind” but how you can form those in a physical world relies on hardware- a brain. Biology influences who you are and what you want in the world.
A sound is not biological. It’s most often theorized as some type of energy capable of holding information. When the body dies- the biological drives do not apply. Think of it from the perspective of AI. Artificial intelligences wouldn’t want or need the same thins as or or enjoy the same things if allowed to develop and not told because... they don’t have biological needs or instincts urging them to act certain ways right? A computer needs enough space for its hardware. No more. Enough energy or resources to exist and maybe better itself. No more. What’s a strip club for a computer? No sexual desire. Non sexual reproduction. See what I mean?
So a “soul” doesn’t have biological impulse or even many of the structures that define your behavior. How will a soul have a beer or have sex with that “hottie”? Energy can’t drink beer, nor would beer have a pleasant effect. Without a brain and hormones and chemicals of a body- you couldn’t get addicted or feel pleasures “of the flesh.”
Whatever “feelings” a souls might have would be those dependent upon interactions with other energy forms more or less. “Deeper” emotions. In theory- you’d be a completely different “personality” dead- stripped of much of the biological hardware and chemicals and responsibilities and needs and wants and instincts that influence your behavior.
So- in the theoretical framework laid out in many Abrahamic religions- we could infer that some wrongs transcend the flesh just as some rights like perhaps love or “real” connections between people. Transgressions that damage the souls while alive, would “taint” that soul towards what we will term “darkness.”
The traditional stance is only “light” souls go to heaven. These are souls not severely tainted in life. “Healthy” souls that when stripped of biological want and necessity only want “healthy” things. Therefore- these “souls” would have free will- but not do “wrong” because said souls are “clean” and without external corruption (which doesn’t exist in paradise) wouldn’t WANT to do wrong.
“Satan” was theoretically an angelic being- a supposedly “pure” soul- but popular tell is that Satan felt neglected by his maker and rebelled. There are questions as to how this happened but we can assume that there was some measure of free will involved there- a choice to be made. The ultimate recurring theme being that one must choose to be “good” because that which can only be good and not which could be bad but doesn’t want to be is meaningless.
Now- genesis tells us humans were expelled from paradise and sent to a harsh less than paradise. And perhaps- some aspect of that is simply that a soul must be weathered. Given the chance to decide what it is and wants to be- and those that make it through life “healthy” get to go back to paradise as they are ready and have proven they won’t choose evil when given the choice- learned valuable things and grown: and the rest have made their choice.
Now- the Bible lays out forgiveness for all who truly seek it. Implying that no soul is beyond healing. That would include Satan. So- the irony there would be that Satan is doomed to fail against an all powerful god (its in the name) and its a stubborn, hateful, conceited, prideful mind that thinks any army could beat such a being assuming they existed for this discussion.
But since healing is only in wanting to heal- Satan and all the souls of hell COULD go to paradise simply by deciding not to be that way. By showing humility and asking forgiveness. By admitting they aren’t smarter or stronger than an omnipotent being and not trying to fight the “plan” but instead be a part of it. They can DECIDE much the same way you do not HAVE to obey the law- you choose to, or you choose the consequences of disobedience- but either way you’re ultimately still part of the system one way or another.
The “end of days” is prophesied as a climactic battle of heaven and hell- which hell loses. A being that exists beyond time- what hasn’t happened already happened. The game is fixed. BUT- going again from the texts- god is eternal. There is no “end” so there is something AFTER Armageddon we just haven’t been told what.
And perhaps- that is the entire point of all of it- beginning to “end.” That after Armageddon those stubborn and broken souls would look at the situation and realize it sucks. That THEY make it suck for them- and that all they have to do for it to not suck is not be assholes. Then- BY CHOICE all, perhaps including Satan- would repent and there would be paradise for all.
We know Satan doesn’t repent UNTIL Armageddon from the texts. Is defeated and his armies defeated. But after? No talk of after. The texts say so long as there are men there will be an earth. So... if all men are in paradise- that could be the end of earth. Perhaps our universe. A new one? An eternal paradise? Who knows.
Bear in mind it’s speculation- and all likely pretty wrong. We don’t understand quantum physics. Nor whatever is next after quantum physics. We can’t explain the universe or even understand a world without time or a world from the perspective of another dimension. We don’t know what happens in a black hole and can’t walk through it like it was air. So... say there is a god. What is that god? Is that god the universe itself? All of us? A computer from the future or past? An alien? A multidimensional being? The future of human evolution? Just... what is?
The Bible says “I am the beginning and the end...” etc. so- right there it’s telling us: you won’t understand what god is. You can’t. So not understanding what god is- how god thinks- the way god sees the world... not understanding even the world- we can’t even understand THE PARTS OF THE WORLD WE CAN SEE. Shit- we can’t even understand humans and WE ARE HUMANS.
Now imagine a human with the complexity to be immortal and exist beyond time- he sees every moment that ever happened and every moment that will- all at once, in perfect clarity, without missing a single detail. Who knows where every quark is, was, and will be and could tell you.
So assuming such a being existed- it would not be possible to understand them or their motives let alone judge them. A human child will think you’re a jerk for not letting them stay up as late as they want and eat what they want. For making them bathe and go to school, for going to work and for not buying them everything they want. They aren’t as far removed from you as you are from a creator of universes- yet they still tend not to understand adults. So- it’s what it is.
Okay babes. Evil happens because we can make the choice to commit it. Followers of Jesus choose to follow his teachings, which means striving not to commit evil. Followers of Jesus are already using free will not to commit sins, and will continue to do so in Heaven because they already made that choice and they’re the ones going to heaven.
It be like being placed in a wood shop and you have all the toys and wood to build whatever you want. You can build a house or a spice rack. Or set fire to the whole place. It's your freewill.
The reason heaven doesn't have evil is because God took out all the possibility of sins.
