Ok... but.... your “boss” often doesn’t control what you make. They might have some discretion- like “Susie is better at her job then John. John is decent. Susie makes 5% more...” but unless you’re like a C level employee or something your “boss” is usually low or middle management. HR or someone else sets pay scale. They say: “ok ‘boss’ , you have up to $45k you can use to land a new hire. No more..” or- “you have a total of $500k for salaries if all employees. Divide it up...” raises and the like often require approval from higher up if they exceed a set limit, and are subject to review and approval by HR, upper management, accounting, or some other party. So your “boss” usually isn’t the one who decides you make $20k instead of $100k. They decide you make $22k instead of $20.

I mean, you're technically correct but I think this post wasn't meant to be taken literally. The way I see this, this is more of a jab at the system that lets people work full time and still not make enough money to survive, and the greedy shits who can buy five private jets because of this system. That said, the problem is obviously systemic, not on an individual level. Beating up a guy who's exploiting the system (like, the CEO of that company) won't work, because he's then gonna turn around and sue you, benefitting from the same system he had been exploiting. But it's really hard to make meaningful changes nowadays because a lot of big companies would rather skedaddle to China than pay people a living wage.

I don’t know why someone hit the DV. I upvoted. It may we’ll be metaphorical as you say, and you have some well said insights. But every time you chop the head off the snake a new snake takes its place. Problems like this can’t be solved by removing the guilty party or even everyone who MIGHT replace them. It’s a social change.
