Pansexual means you’re attracted to any/all genders because either your don’t see it or you like it all anyways. So, no, just because there is bi does not mean there are not more than 2 different genders
Yeah, I call myself bi, but I'd be fine being with someone who's non-binary.
.
The way I've heard pan being described is you're attracted to their personality, and gender doesn't matter.
Bisexual originally meant something closer to androgynous. This is what Freud referred to.

Freud also thought that people become gay when their opposite sex parent isn’t attractive enough to fall in love with so I’m skeptical when it comes to his views on this kind of thing.
So here’s what I believe to be the root of the issue here. There is an expectation for the sexual majority to take the time to understand the terminology of the sexual minority which is fine. At the same time they are expected to learn to understand how gender and sexes are separate things and what is identifiable and what is physical, also fine. However “bi” means two. End of story. Bisexual can’t mean attracted to more or less than two or it would use a different root word like “multi” or “poly”. If you want to break down the traditional concepts of sexuality and gender you have to maintain consistency of traditional language or you will not be able to foster understanding of the concept. Sometimes it seems like the sheer volume of new terms and their inconsistent application is there to purposely obfuscate and alienate the sexual majority so they are required to accept everything as a lump and cannot participate in any granular discussion.
In fact the whole thing can be simplified. Everyone falls under one of three categories:
Monosexual - attracted to one gender
Polysexual - attracted to more than one gender
Asexual - attracted to zero genders
.
The only subcategories needed are under Monosexual and they would be:
Homosexual - attracted to your own gender
Heterosexual - attracted to a gender that is not yours.
.
Those five terms can cover every possible situation with regards to sexual orientation and are easy for people to understand. Why not make is simpler rather than adding more and more complication?
