I for one agree with the title, because hOW MUCH WORK IS IT TO FEED A FUCKING FISH?? Even for a 9 year old, you feed it once a day and that's it. It's not like they asked him to clean the fish tank.
it's a fish! how could it be possibly too much work!
and even if it is, turning off the filter is literally suffocating the poor animal SLOWLY!
There are other things you can do without killing it so cruelly!
Cleaning fish tanks is an absolute pain in the ass. I let my plecostomus die after two years of it eating it's own shit and then let it decompose for another year because I didn't want to move the fucking tank. The tank was upstairs and I would need to take the water out first, would require either scooping it out, or creating a siphon... just... pains in the asses. At least it was enough for me to decide to not buy any more fish, possibly sparing the lives of potential hundreds >_>
There was also a fiddler crab in there. I still have no idea where the fuck that crab went.
It was cool watching that fish decompose over time though.
I have 2 outdoor fishtank (medium size) and tons ass of trees growing near them, I know how crazy cleaning can get (I've actually gotten sick after doing the maintenance before)
But it's not that bad when you actually give a damn about your pets.
People just don't care about fish as much as they do about cats and dogs cause they don't find fish as affectionate nor cute which angers me so much! Those people should just keep rock.
It's not that I didn't give a damn, I just saw the potential for an interesting observational experiment with the bonus of laziness. My Pleco (Picasso) didn't die from eating it's own shit, it actually thrived on that, as algae would propagate because of it... and it ate algae. It was the crab that eventually killed it... that's why I'm wondering what the fuck happened to the crab. I watched that crab slowly dissect that fish while it decomposed and then one day the fucker was just gone. That fish and crab (and cats figuring out how to other fish) have taught me much about life and death, I don't take the lessons lightly and I've appreciated all of them. Except that crab. That crab is a fucking enigma.
