I started watching it around the time season 6 was airing and I haven't looked back. It's on the 15th and final season right now. I'm going to miss it when it's gone.
I used to have really really bad realistic nightmares every single night since I was a young child, to the extent of refusing to sleep for days on end (I'd stay up until dawn broke, took a forced powernap in class/car/bus sometimes from pure exhaustion, repeat) which obviously made it worse and pushed the cycle even further.
.
When I started sleeping with my partner, they gradually decreased over the years so that I now only have one every few months.
.
After watching the first episode, I had these nightmares again for a week after watching the first episode, suddenly all of that numbing terror came back (don't know why) and I was jumpy and emotional and terrified, so I never watched it again.
For me, Supernatural is the epitome of the CW show: it has a baseline of competence and it's best episodes are really good, but I kinda forget about it after a while and don't have any desire to watch it again.
To me it feels like Buffy's middle schooler brother. You can definitely see some similarities (there's this one episode that's almost a complete rip-off), it's nice and funny, the monsters are cool, it starts asking questions but it lacks depth, a strong writer, an artsy feeling and because of it I like it but don't love it. The fanbase produces some good content though, which keeps my interest for the series alive... but the plot has become too random and over-the-top to follow and I've just seen 2 episodes of the final season.
I feel like it was pretty great for a few seasons but after that it felt very forced like some exec said “the teens love it make more plot even if there’s no meaning” and the lighting was always the worst to me.Most of the time I wanted to watch it at like noon on Saturday but couldn’t cause the sun was too bright for the dark and moody scenes
