The difference for me with Tony Hawk is that he treats his celebrity in sort of bemused “I cant believe people still remember me” kind of way. His name is much more famous than his face and he’s 30 years from his peak of fame.
His tweets like - a woman trying to put her bag in the overhead compartment not recognizing him and asking him if he’s any good at skating then laughing and leaving or a woman cutting him off to first class and then watching a movie where he stars in and he’s like paybacks a bitch - reaaaaallly come off more like I’m famous and you should know that than oh look someone recognized me and I’m amused. While some do sound like he’s finding it funny that his name is more famous than his face a vast majority I’ve come across just has the guy act like he’s annoyed people can’t put his name and face together and treat him like a celebrity, but that’s just how it comes off to me
The ones I've seen always gave me an impression closer to what scatmandingo describes than anything else. But I've literally only encountered any of his stuff in memes
