I think literally (in the literal sense, lol) everyone has been judged based on stereotypes at some point in their life. Whether it’s race, class, gender, education, lifestyle, nationality . . . The list is basically endless. For some people, it happens more than others (for whatever reason). But really, nobody should be judging others based on an assumption. It’s only once we get to know someone that we can truly get their measure as a person.
People keep assuming that I smoke or take drugs and I don't know what to think of it haha.
Someone even said "what? You dont use drugs? I thought you were your groups drug momma!" lol
I was having a shower thought on this earlier, and it pertained with a flashback to me wearing a FUBU shirt. I was in HS, my mom came home with that shirt; it was orange and blue, the colors of my elementary school... and she had no idea what FUBU meant. Whatever, it was a comfy shirt. My point is, in my shower thought, a regret formed. If I could go back I'd ask anyone who knocked the shirt why they took issue and I'd point out that we have an opportunity to be better, but if you use fabric to purposefully divide, you're doing the same damned thing. Don't fault me for wearing a comfy ass shit when I don't get to pick out my own fucking clothes.
I'm one of the rare few that prefered Nike Shox in their short life. I wore those fuckers OUT; they could do something no other shoe could, not even to this day: both cushion the overall impact, hold the ankle, and let you pivot from running as fast as you could into a stand still and switch directions. I mean, sure, the heel wasn't comfortable, but that was a GOOD thing.
Zion would have never ripped a shoe in half with a pivot in a Nike Shox. I'm justa sayin'.
The real downside was they had such a grip, even an ankle tweak turns into a sprain or a tear if you come down and land on someone else's foot.
Anyway, back to the last sentence of that first comment... the Nike Shox I had were a team shoe and I preferred those over all the pairs of J's I had up until then except one: a variation on the Jordan 13.
Don't even get me started on the weight issues. Jordan's.. as awesome as they are, are heavy shoes. The 13 was... pure genius. It allows your ankle to pivot while also acting as a support, yet also not turning the skin on the back of your ankle into a never-ending blister. It was also one of the few Jordan's that didn't have the weight issue; this is where they started taking air gaps in the rubber of the shoe seriously.
It's actually funny... now that people are floating around the idea of tires that can't deflate due to hexagonal structure. I mean, they went with bubbles, but still.
I found them and now I see why I love them so much. A low-top variation. I knew there was something wrong when they re-introduced them and my friend let me wear his pair. Now I know.
Guess what I'm thinking about buying... and in the same colors no less. Muwahahahahhaha...Muwahhhahahahahahaha... MUWAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!!
<_< c'mon guys, it's not EVIL when I'm the only one...
it's a first impression, and of course the skin colour does play apart of that, so yeah, i judge a book by it's cover, but only until i know who they are, and by that time, they come to realise i'm an asshole
I think what the fellow on the left meant to say was, “prejudice based on your skin color *probably* has not had the same kind of impact on your life and relationships as it has had on mine.”
The comic is accurate, and regardless of skin color/sex/religion/etc you will face prejudice at some point. But it’s important to acknowledge that some groups of people are profoundly more hindered/affected by it.
