The water turns the ground to mud and it becomes deeper over time and the higher the flood water the deeper it goes. Than there is the fact that the coffins are all built to be damn near if not completely air tight. Than fill that with the gasses of decomposing bodies. They pop up like balloons that were held under the water. If people were buried in cheap coffins like solid wood like in old west days there is less likely they pop up unless they were newly buried than the ground is to soft.
There is a reason why you bury people on hills and 6 ft under.
This is why, starting several years ago, they started emblazoning the names of the deceased on the outside of the coffin. That way, they don't have to open them up to see who belongs where.
These were apparently not. Some cemeteries have not always required them. It may be that this one doesn't, or they only started requiring them in the last few years.
Here in America we don’t do the vault thing. Well unless it is a rather large wealthy family or a large city like L.A. or New York normally we just bury our dead in the ground 6 feet below. Or we have some places that do other things. I knew a guy who’s grandmother is now buried in her rose garden. She lived in the country and well she wanted it so they got special permission.
My Dad was cremated and is in my moms arms as she is buried in a coffin six feet under ground next to her mother and father.
Funny part is he was claustrophobic so that is why he was cremated but they placed him in a tiny jar and now is in a coffin with my mom lol. He did though said when my mom died he doesn’t care what happens to him. So he problem fine with it.
Actually, in some places here in America, we do the vault thing. My Dad died back in 2007, and his coffin was put in a vault, as required by the cemetery, and flooding was the given reason.
I was joking I know when you said due to floods it meant somewhere where floods is well known and that is usually small towns and if they forced you well than you are not rich. Rich people have options non-rich get plots left to them. My moms came from my great grandparents. They bought a huge plot of land in a than new now old cemetery. They planned where each family member would go. Did I mention the plot was given to her as a 6th birthday present lol that’s when they got it.
