Can I be honest? America is fucked. Their leader is the most incompetent person they could've picked, the (unfortunately) general public is trying to open the country back up, children are starting to have serious medical problems over this, they responded too late to really get away from infection, then when they locked down the economy got fucked bc of bad handling by the government, and now they're the most infected country in the world, and from what I've seen online a lot of people are just giving in bc they're out of cash and need to work in order to survive. From how it seems from an outsider looking in, America is going to feel this for decades over just how stupid the general public and government has handled this.

I sincerely hope, as unlikely as it seems (again, don't take my word for it, outsider looking in), that they elect someone this year who can really whip the country into shape and transform it into a truly respectable nation like it used to be.
Hell, I'm saying all of this, and I LIKE America, do you know how many Canadians I've met who say they despise Americans for the sole reason that they're American? I keep trying to tell them thats called being racist and they always deny it, which is super infuriating

As horrible as the Great Fire of London was, it was still an opportunity to rebuild. If it all burns down, we'll remember that lesson and rebuild better. Don't feel sorry about this.
For example, that coal guy was supposed to go bankrupt 3 years ago, and then it would take a year to make the transfer to outlet that work force into building a new eastern grid, but that's just now finally starting.
Well, you could say America is fucked, or you could say incredibly dense population centers are fucked. And they were, long before the coronavirus hit them. New York was already running out of money that the federal government wasn't planning on bailing them out of for various reasons where the responsibility of the state budget falls on New York, and California isn't looking too well, far before the virus was a blip on the radar. Hell, New York City's wealthier population is up and leaving and plenty of folks were already doing that in California for a multitude of reason. Political aligned views not being heard or compromised with, taxes, policy of how to deal with various recurring problems, powerline brush not being cleared resulting in predictable wildfires when the wind whips up, homeless tent cities not being cleaned up, and by cleaned up I don't mean removed, I mean cleaning up trash and residue, poor business policy. a cost of living that most people can't achieve in the city
And depending on your optics you will never see that side of the issues underlying some of the problems in these cities. It's all the fault of the federal government not being tyrannical enough to cover for stateside incompetence, it ignores why the protests in Michigan happened, it assumes everywhere is like the cities, forgetting that rural and more isolated settlements function far differently than them, and can function in a state of lifted or (preferrably) eased lockdown as opposed to a cramped urban environment.
