I think that's the idea.

And yet the majority likely have very little to be sullen about ;-) So to me it always just comes across as spoiled brat.

They're goth. Their things are blackness, pale skin and expressiveless face.
That's why I can never be a goth, I'm too damn happy and rainbowy.

I've known some happy goths, some colorful ones too. Never a rainbow one, though.
