Transition means 'From one state to another'.
The idea hold no implication of a binary, as going from 2 to 5 is still a transition, even on a scale of 10.
Huh, Google confirms.
I will point out, however, that the definition you gave of trans does imply a sort of binary, as going from one thing to another is two things. It implies a line between *two* points specifically.
see my above comment about analog sticks.
transitioning does not imply a binary system. changing from a position that outputs 350 to a position that outputs 40 is still a transition and its not necessarily going to be a straight line on a graph either, with our example of an analog stick itll skip a lot of numbers cutting through the middle of the circle only hitting a couple random ones on the way.
Transition does not describe or imply an *over arching systematic* binary. Even if it does have implication of binary through the relationship of two values.
Thank you, I'm be able to describe it better in the future.
I certainly can’t say that I can define what another person Intuits by reading something- I suppose that what we infer from a thing depends upon our perspective or how we process information. For example- a person not exposed to it- like a non active speaker or a child- may not infer sarcasm from even the most blatantly sarcastic comment- simply because they don’t think in a way to process language to have that meaning. So personally- I don’t see transition to imply binary at all- but I could understand someone might-
It CAN be based in our views of gender or sex, and that we natively view these as binary or non binary- so assume that to transition would mean from one to the other- binary. But it DOESNT automatically mean we view gender as binary- it could also mean that we simply process things in binary terms- that we are more “black and white” thinkers, or more familiar with digital states than analog.
If your plants are dying- the botanist is more likely to immediately look for what may be wrong with the planet at health- a disease? A fungus? The landscaper is going to think about the irrigation, the soil. Ask the carpenter what to do and they’re most likely to tell you to plant new ones- and the environmentalist will tell you to switch to organic compost and that the air pollution is killing your plants. It’s all perspective.

It's not a buffer for symmetry, y'all.
