I really hate that phrase, not just because it's very glaringly wrong, but also because it apparently doesn't mean what it says. It supposedly means that the institution is messed up as a whole, (to put it in sfw terms), which while true, is not what it says. How many people read it for the first time, and immediately got that it wasn't actually saying that all cops are bastards? I certainly didn't.
Know a person who’s grandpa? Great uncle? was a cop. kept saying acab and acknowledged that they had relatives who were cops. They said that it didn’t matter who it was and how much they cared about them. It still applied. Shocking to read. maybe ACAB means “acknowledge the problem in the institution” But no dictionary definition of the term could redeem it if people redefine it to what they assume it means.
and the kids learn that the police are not to be feared, they'd know he's not one of the trigger happy policemen, but recent events would have had a huge impact still.
Tbh this is as important for the cops as it is for the kids. Like think about it:
.
There IS distrust in the black communities in general of cops. That's not a secret, and probably deserved. And cops also seem to distrust those communities.
.
How much harder would it be for cops to draw guns and shoot to kill some punk they've known since he was 5 over something stupid like a 10$ bill?
.
If he does then he's either a psychopath, or you know he felt he had no choice.
.
These kids wouldn't feel so scared or like there's no way out or that they can't get help.
.
Obviously I don't know that this should be mandatory. But there's just the potential in things like this to make positive, long-lasting change. And that seems so important right now

Do you think however, we should teach black people not to fear police or should it be the other way around?
A great human this officer, however those little angels are in for a shock when they will meet the rest of the police.
That doesn't mean this cop doesn't have tickets quotas. That doesn't mean he doesn't draw his weapon more often on minorities. It doesn't mean he wasn't poorly trained. That's now how any of this works
It's almost like him being a cop doesn't automatically make him guilty of any of those things, either. Which might be the point.
.
But, please, be sure to condemn him immediately as a murderer of black people based on his uniform. Because THAT'S how this works. Right?
He’s doing what police are supposed to be doing- being part of the community and making a positive impact. Participating in the community as a member. So kudos to him.

If you're not, then carry on, my wayward son
