They put essentially a toothbrush up BOTH nasal passages and scrape away for the test. Fun times, glad I didn't have to get it done as of now.

I didn't get one done, my mother had to have it done when she had a medical scare recently. It's to get traces of the virus to my knowledge still lodged in your nose cavities, swab one, then swab the other.

Haven't had to yet, but went with someone who did not that long ago. Definitely doesn't seem pleasant

I honestly didn't think it was that bad. It was uncomfortable and then it felt like you had violently snorted water up your nose, but then it was over.
