I suspect that 30+ years of toxic identity politics from the far left caused a backlash
Like Darth Plaguis going too far in messing with the dark side and the force pushing back and creating Anakin, the left has played their part in creating the oddity that is Trump
If the sensible, moderate Democrats got their act together, vowed to denounce Marxism, and stopped pandering to the vocal minority of the far left, they'd be a credible force
I think the point it is making is that Democrats don’t want Trump, so it’s silly when they say return to normal, because that’s like saying they want Trump.
Trump isn't normal. For the first time in over a generation, the kingmakers didn't get their king. Or queen.
The Orange One dared to steal The Anointed One's turn at power, and not even the fallback Third Bush could stop that from happening.
Since before he even took his oath, they've been trying to get rid of him, all while shaming and trying to destroy anyone who is so racist, so sexist, so Islamophobic, so fascist, so transphobic, so evil, as to not hate Trump's guts and aid in destroying everything that is right of Obama.
And the conditions that got Trump are brought to light. I doubt that Trump will lose come election, but even if he does, we got a taste. Just the barest hint, in spite of the left never relenting on their libel and sedition, of a POTUS who is for America. Not Europe, not China, and not the UN.
So the left has a choice. Give us a candidate who actually loves America and what she was meant to be, or we might feel that we need another Trump. They've chosen poorly.
In some ways this is correct. The “establishment” didn’t get the outcome that they have come to expect because they are used to control. It did teach them that the population is willing to go to extremes if they get too far out of our perceived best interests. I think that point has been very clearly made. However DJT is like a doctor that goes into business. It’s a doctor, they are smart in one field, they must be good at another. But they aren’t. DJT isn’t a good President. A leader confronts and handles opposition; they don’t blame it for all their woes and make themselves a victim.
"Normal". How utterly useless that word is. They don't want normality, they want to return back to the status quo. Find some middle eastern country with russian ties, bomb the fuck out of them, stagnate and stifle the economy with policies and tax laws that actively discourage individual Americans from attempting to succeed, bend over backwards to appease China, the rising and very real threat to the entire Free World, and enjoy the undeserved lime-light of being the political party that the media props up as saviors. Fuck going back to "Normal". How about actually being better? For ALL Americans, not the deranged clown demographic and political brownie points they've been chasing into the rabbit hole for years now.
