Lol. It’s simple in CONCEPT. execution is primarily practice, secondarily patience and attention to detail, and lastly innate talent. In CONCEPT creating metal costume armor is very simple and not far off from this save the tools and materials used, and even functional metal armor is pretty “simple.” But life is full of simple things a person can take a lifetime to perfect and become skilled at. The message there is to not be intimidated to try. You may not get these results your first go or your 100th- but the process itself isn’t intimidating- it’s the fear that it won’t be good enough that prevents many people from trying things they want to or might enjoy, but are simple to do, not always so easy to do well. I guess like cooking. How hard is it to heat up some meat and such? Well... there are some fine cooks and some less than- and people can cook their whole lives and still be learning.
I also have the fear of succeeding and facing my dad's disbelief and disapproval and my mom yelling "where tf are you gonna put that now"
Nah seriously it takes me a lot of focus to cut things with a clean line and it doesn't always work, this would take ages and too much tries and I wouldn't reach that level.
Don't get me wrong - it's damn HARD work. I was never much good at it. But cardboard suits are very very common in the cosplay community haha.

It's a bit of a nest of vipers, but you'd be hard pressed to find the level of ingenuity involved in making most of those really impressive costumes look authentic

I actually remember seeing someone make a full on (and fairly realistic) wonder woman breastplate out of a yoga mat.
