This is low-key awesome and terrifying. When you said you climb trees for some reason I forgot tall trees existed, so the freaking crane was a surprise
.
Did you guys take all the branches off of the bottom of the tree already?
Whaaaat, that's crazy :o I climb with the ZigZag and never really tried it with a knot. And I climb and can drive all trucks that are legal in Germany :D where are you from?
Canada out in the prairies. I've never used the ZigZag but it looks awesome. I climb on a Blakes Hitch which is nice and simple but the friction makes even a 30 foot ascent a bit tiresome. I'm learning to use SRS and I bought a rope wrench so I'm slowly moving into more technical ascent devices. The Blakes hitch is kind of old. Lol Try climbing with a knot. It's a fun experiment.
Yeah, srs is pretty cool and I love cutting trees with a wrench or a rigging technique.
Yeah, a lot of people say that about climbing with knots, but none of my coworkers is using one
They're tiresome. I used to prefer them but I'm thinking the extra cost will be well worth it. By the way, you guys have Siberian Elms out there, right? Ulmus pumila, if that helps.

Nah just kidding :P
.
Is there a reason you do the bottom branches first?
Yeah, a lot of people say that about climbing with knots, but none of my coworkers is using one
