I am never going to Croatia. I'll end up putting Colgate on my hotdog.

So what do they keep in those squeeze or glass bottles? Spreads like jam and Nutella?

No no, we keep yoghurt in those. Nutella comes in little bars like chocolate and we melt it

This is 100% true, I currently have at least 3 tubs of toothpaste in storage. What can I say, us Croats are a weird breed.

But doesn't it become dry/pastier by the time you reach the bottom of the bucket? Since the opening of the bucket is pretty large, every time you open it the toothpaste/air contact surface is rather big.

Yeah, when it gets to that dry stage we just grab the little pieces that break off and eat it like candy. Some people like to rinse it off with water, but I usually don't - makes the freshness last longer.

To be fair, in terms of plastic waste the bucket is probably a better option, I would need a much bigger bathroom cabinet though
