I mean, "hippopotamus" does mean "river horse" in Latin. And, (un)surprisingly the German names for "bat" (Fledermaus) and "turtle" (Schildkröte) also mean the same thing as they do in Swedish.

In Norwegian the squid/octopus is ink squirt, the sloth is lazy animal, the hedgehog is spiky pig, the rest are similar to what is in this post

Hahaha in Czech we also call raccoons "wash bear". And platypuses "bird mouth", or rather "bird lip/gob" would be more accurate.
