I took sleeping pills for a very short time a couple years back. When i realized i was starting to get addicted to taking them every night i quit cold turkey. I have my sleepless nights but i'll never go back to taking those pills.
Doctors have suggested I take prescription pills before but I've refused repeatedly for that very reason. OTC I can grudgingly deal with, but anything strong and no thank you

I've found that having a specific playlist of soothing songs can help me. I don't typically struggle with insomnia, but that is the solution I turn to when I wake up from a nightmare in the middle of the night and am too stressed to fall back asleep.
I had to take melatonin tablets all the time as a kid, because for unknown reasons, my body clock always becomes nocturnal.
.
I don't take any nowadays, or any other kind of sleeping aid because nothing fuckin works.
Tbh, I'm kinda happy that the doctors couldn't find anything that works for longer than a week, because night is so much less stressful.
