Whenever it's been done in the past it wasn't done properly. They didn't understand how to do it
But if I was in charge, I'd do it properly
I know how to do it because I'm smarter and/or more moral than those that went before me
Because every generation after the baby boomers have had a lower standard of living than their parants and capitalism kills 20 million people every year? I'm just guessing here.
Communism, as written, could only successfully be done properly by a Hive Mind or machines. Anyone else that tries would be poisoned by greed eventually.
What people actually want is socialism, but that requires people not being greedy bastards
I’ve said this a hundred times.
It’s why capitalism is the main one we have
@grimreaper Yeah, that's my criticism of Marx original work to. That and it was written in the mid-1800's when democracy was still a theoretical concept, it's noticable in all the early drafts on communism that they've really only copied the imperialism as a model for state power.
@creativedragonbaby Yes, the sad part is that by properly funded infrastructure, which is what socialism does best imho, living standards and profits go up due to having healthy, well educated workers who don't mind going to work. But while that increase in wealth lifts the proletariat it creates a larger middle class who have a tendency to vote for lower taxes ruining everything for everyone.
Oh my God. Are you actually trying to say that standards of living have been dropping?
Even with the War on Poverty and Great Society tying their damnedest to fuck everything up, that's still not true in any way, shape, or form.
The several times it was tried and failed to create your utopia "It was just done wrong", yeah, no. The very concept it antithetical to human need and nature, and is straight up evil the instant a single person is stripped of their labor, life, or liberty.
Communism is great on paper but awful in practice because people are lazy and/or greedy. Regulated capitalism would be amazing. You can only make x% profit, medicine has an upper limit of cost, shit like that would benefit our society a lot
Communism has killed more people than both world wars combined. And communism doesn't accept people's sexuality. Why would anyone support such bullshit?
Among the first things the soviets did after the russian revolution was to abolish anti homosexuality laws since under communism the state shouldn't interfere with peoples personal lives. It was however reinstated under Stalin, the priests son, along with anti abortion laws and a lot of other conservative nasties.
@famousone Conservative values will always be wrong in the eyes of history because it fights change, it's what the whole thing means. That doesn't mean there aren't conservative communists who wants "the good old communism we used to have when I was young" back. Those where the ones I was talking about.
Oh lord, it's worse than I thought. Conservatives in America are dedicated to preserving our liberal heritage. Sometimes change needs to be fought, especially the kind advocated by the likes of Marx or Mussolini.
Communism is an inherently wretched and undesirable ideology that never has been, and never will be, nearly as good for a free and just society as Constitutionalist Republicanism.
I'll say again, change ain't always good or bad. American Republicans sought change to push through emancipation, suffrage, civil rights. We ain't against change. Just your kind.
Says the people trying and succeeding at dividing people through identity politics and discriminating especially against whites, straights, Christians, employers, and anyone who doesn't fit in those categories but isn't on board with tearing them down.
That ridiculously awkward moment when you genuinely think millenials and gen z'ers are destroying bigotry.

The groups literally working at teaching people it's acceptable to hate:
-Men
-White people
-The family unit
-Anyone with a specific political belief
-Gun owners (for some reason)
-Anyone with a specific religious belief

The groups that preach that "believe all" is an acceptable stance to take (but only if the person you're believing has a vagina)

That say it's fine to destroy someone's ability to earn a living - or outright physically attack someone- if they don't share your opinion. That think it's okay to drive people to suicide.
`
The groups that have so devalued the terms "Nazi," "Rapist," "Racist," "phobe," and "pedophile" - that think someone disagreeing with them on the internet is the equivalent to mass human genocide. To child abuse.
`
That think it's fine to indoctrinate children
`
Yeah, we're real champions of anti-bias and letting people live and let live lmao
Imagining thinking that an arbitrary number devised to measure trends actually mattering. Imagine thinking that a bunch of people on Internet representing an entire group.
I meant to comment that as the main comment, but my general consensus still stands.
.
And imagine grouping an entire generation that comprises of varying ages and generalising them. I would say the same for boomers.
.
And a world outside America exists. Every generation believes that they are the greatest or the last one. People bagging on Boomers today would be bagged on by the next generation. Because that's what happens.
.
But I guess, I am naïve.
In the context of your original comment as a response to mine that statement is naive.
`
As for the rest of it - obviously not all millennial and gen z'ers or boomers are the same. But for the purposes of simplification to respond to the ridiculous premise this meme suggests I didn't feel it necessary to point that out.
`
It only muddies up my comparison for me to state something that should be the obvious. Not saying you're wrong to say it, but in the boundaries of my comment it didn't add much value
This is absolute stupidity. Communism wasn't "done wrong". It IS wrong. Preach Communism in your own damn country and stay the hell away from mine. We don't need another WORLD WAR to deal with Communism.
My standpoint is that every ideology is wrong but may have redeeming qualities and even solutions to some of societys problems. Except fascism and nazism, those fuckers can burn.
Fascism is at least honest about their authoritarianism and institutionist atrocity. Even it is otherwise equal to communism, except for being less lethal.
"Every ideology is wrong? So, we should just burn the whole world and shrug? Generations of thinkers built the North American way of life. How do you know better then all of them? Oh, I forgot. You just are better then them. Enjoy your Communistic country when they take everything from you.
@adam44 That's not what I wrote and you know it. But I will enjoy my socialist country with all the horrors of freely available health care, dentistry, roads, education and clean hot & cold running water. Why, just this morning I saw the doctor about a problem with a saliva gland and it didn't cost me anything. There was even free coffee in the waiting room.
I get that you're trying to flex, but it ain't really getting anywhere. All of that is built on the backs of American industry and warfighters. Aside from that, we're doing just fine ourselves. Or even better, by the only standards that matter. Ours.
From what I understand, @Karlboll. Is that by saying: "Every ideology is wrong", you say that no matter how good an ideology is, it has flaws - and vice versa. A yin yang sort of analogy comes to mind, the good in the bad and the bad in the good. And, although I agree with you on the fascists, It does ultimetly harm your point. People will assume that you have a double standard; this will mark you as "the enemy"
@ignorance
That is a reasonable interpretation of my statements.
As for hurting my point by viewing all ideologies compatible with parliamentary democracy as having benefits and drawbacks .. well I guess I've never been much of a conformist. My personal preference would be for an enlightened, liberal society that cares for the well being of it's citizens but I suppose "politics real" will just have to do.
I'm honestly surprised that you would consider me an enemy and not a person with a different view but that's up to you. I've been called worse.
@famousone I am quite aware that they wrote "this will mark you as the enemy". I am not playing victim. I just accepted if that's how they want to see me.

When I said "This will mark you as 'the enemy'", I never meant it as my point of view. But rather as an explanation of why, no matter what you said, people wouldn't agree with you, even when some of your points made sense. Because of the perception of a double standard.
I'm merely a third party in this discussion and hold no strong oponion - if any at all- of your person.
By the way, I did say that I agreed with you; how can I think as you do and consider you my enemy?
I don't even need to say much. @karlboll has done what all lefties do and praise Communism, play the victim, and listen to only what they want to hear. I think you've said enough for me.

Personally. It's the "better than thou" feeling I get when seeing this meme. It's alienating to feel someone is making themselves seem better than others while sharing controversal opinions. That's why I don't like this meme
