It was apparently to do with linking Asians to the "Chinese virus" aka covid
I.e if you said that Asians spread the virus because they were Asian then that would be considered a crime
You can say all the hateful shit you want, this refers to violent crimes motivated by hate... at the same time I don’t get why that’s not already covered under other hate crime laws? Seems like pointless legislation to look good in the public eye.
