Several places are seeing extreme spikes in covid cases in places where there are high levels of vaccinations.
.
Not saying vaccinations are causing covid (though the case levels are higher than even at the peak of the pandemic previously for some reason). But sure as fuck strange how it's not remotely limiting the spread.
I'd assume it's because the more people that got vaccinated the more went back to normal daily behavior. That comboed with the virus developing a new strain could be the cause. No way of telling for sure though
The thinking now is: pre vaccinations, people were so scared they isolated to the extreme that virus couldn't spread; now close contact and reduced care to prevent spread (masks and social gatherings in large groups, return to in-place work vs remote, etc) is letting breakthrough cases and unvaccinated to get infected.
