It fired itself but the next step is for it to load itself. After that Baldwin will confess he wasn't even on set. The evil gun has plotted this crime for the past ten years.
my understanding is that it wasn't a scene, he was just pulling the gun and firing for fun or practise believing it wasn't loaded. As the assistant director gave it to him stating it was clear. Having been in the movie industry for years, and having done shooting scenes, he would have had a level of trust in the people he worked with to ensure the gun was safe.
He later claimed the gun went off by itself without him firing it. It's a single action revolver, that means you cant pull the trigger until its cocked back.
Before he made that claim, before he blamed the gun itself going off without him doing anything to fire it, I was fairly on board with "negligence of many parties and baldwin trusting too much"
After he made the claim? thats fishy, thats suspicious. That's overspinning your defense. No way did the gun go off by itself, and why would he lie about it going off by itself if there wasnt something wrong with the whole thing? if it wasnt worse than what it seems?
Iccarus, that argument excuses and justifies nothing. The ONLY reason Hollywood has gotten away with ignoring conventional gun safety is by RELIGIOUSLY observing their own standards. So there is definitely no excuse for handling a weapon without checking it, AND THEN aiming it at a person you don't want dead AS WELL AS thumbing the hammer. If he didn't do just one of those things, it wouldn't have mattered if the weapon somehow did malfunction, as firing would have been literally impossible, or at least harmless.
And now he doesn't even have the intestinal fortitude to say "I fucked up". It looks to me like he is actively preparing to mislead and confuse the jury in court, actually.
I trusted my Sergeants and fellow soldiers with my life, I didn't tolerate ANY safety violations.
I trust my own father even more, I check every weapon he has handed to me, and any I don't know how to check I ask him to teach me, though I am proud to say that I've taught him more and more recently.
I mean ffs, does he think we're stupid?
