But couldn’t we argue that it isn’t “racism,” but that it’s familiarity at that point? Sure we’re seeing “empathy” and some level of intellect, but I think racism requires a form of “I’m above you/you are inferior” complex.
To them, fur color might just be one more identifier of who is on whose team, and nothing else. BUT!!!! I don’t know the study notes, so I could be 100% wrong.
I mean, that's the same reason humans tend to be drawn to humans with similar skin colors at the base.

"This one looks like me. It is probably an ally and shares more similar survival mechanisms than the one with the physical discrepancies."
.
Not really that different from the instinct that causes humans and animals to reject their kind when they have deformities. Which isn't to say that different races are deformities, just that the brain on a basic level looks at a thing, assesses it, sees something "different," and that sets off alarm bells
Exactly.
“You are not my color. You are not my family. You are not worth risk.”
.
Then we add apex intelligence, ignorance, and selfishness, and there you have it….. racism…
One of the ugliest pieces of mankind.

Today I saw my star for the first time. My brother and I were competing to who would get theirs first. He died in a car wreck last year…. And never told me what the star means…
I am really sorry to hear that about your brother.

I checked the leaderboard and it looks like your star comes from being a commenter. You're #17 for the week.
Thank you, and I think he was bumblebee22, maybe just bumblebee or bee22…
.
But it’s been so long I don’t remember. It’s like I can see it in my head but can’t remember the letters. His phone and iPad and everything got shut off so quick I lost his accounts.
I don't remember anyone named bumblebee22 myself. I remember someone named something to do with honey I think that got tagged in bee posts, though...
.
I tried taking a scout through your comments to see if I could find anything quickly but I only found a comment you made talking about going to blockbuster :/
I don’t either. It’s so long ago now. That’d be summer 2020 that he passed, now that I recall correctly. Either way, no point going after it. Our dad says people revisit graves to be miserable; we revisit memories to feel joy. Thank you for trying though.
Idk I think people visit graves for their own reasons - BUT that said, it's obviously entirely up to you how you handle your own experiences

If that IS his profile catfluff found than you maybe have a way of revisiting some of who he was. And if not, you're also free to move on without having ever clicked the link

It sounds like he was a special person, and I'm glad he brought you into our little corner of the internet
THATS HIM!!I literally cried when I saw his picture is of us at Airsoft!! Thank you @catfluff I can’t tell you how happy it made me to see that!
My first car is behind us, so that means he used a photo of us from 11years ago.
.
To each their own in their beliefs, I guess. I’m glad he did, too. Thank you both , I really appreciate it!
If you hang out with people who would not stop to open the cage of a crying human being, it's time to surround yourself with some new people.

Rats are not more compassionate than humans. Get off your soapbox and go outside and talk to people.
I'm so happy when I come to type something and see that someone beat me to it.
And unlike rats, I'm not racist, nor are the people I associate with, so bonus points for learning!
To clarify rats are only racist against rats they didn't grow up around.
.
A rat raised around rats of other colors won't care. A rat raised only around black rats will likely only help other black rats
Man those studies on rats are always hella interesting but also sad :(
Recently read about one where they put rats in deep water to see when they'd give up on swimming. On average they only lasted 15min before they gave up. The scientists then "rescued" them before they drowned, let them rest for a bit and put them back in. They then lasted up to 60!!! hours. Conclusion was that rats are able to feel hope, knowing that there's a possibility to be saved again.
Poor lil fellas man.
