Yes! I've been reading pictures like this all week. I agree and your title is perfect too. I respect the women who fought for rights in the past, greatly, but we are in another place. Is not necessary to make a revolution.
I will also always refuse to think or act like men are the devil, they are fantastic and we wouldnt be here without them
Lol go do something about it. Ya'll are quick to point out things happening to others and against others but when the chance arises to help them you won't do it. If you see something wrong try and fix it.
Feminism isnt about blaming men, its about not letting them define us; its also about not letting others (which INCLUDES women) define us by how we dress or the way we act. Equal rights is only a small part of it. You may respect men, but do they respect you? In modern day Korea women are being hit by their husbands because they can't keep the house clean, make food three times a day and take care of her children before the husband comes home from work. You are an adult who can take carr of your own responsibilities? Good for you. Thats pretty irrelevant to feminism.
Why women are better:
In divorce, we get the children and a monthly paycheck!
Women get multiple organisms during sex
Women never have to pay for dinner
Why men are better:
No periods
They make more money
They only have to lick a clit while I have to swallow a while dick!
It's not that the number itself is false, it's that it's misrepresented as a problem caused by systemic inequality, rather than the reality where it's caused by the choices women make, so it's not actually a problem at all.
How is it not a problem? In the exact same job, doing the exact same work, half the population receives significantly less money. What is not problematic about that?
See that's where you're wrong. That number has nothing to do with specific jobs. It a general number taken from the total income of all men and the total income of all women. It doesn't factor in things like women taking far more maternity/paternity leave than men, women working less overtime and weekends than men, jobs that include danger pay being almost exclusively filled by men, and women being far less likely to negotiate for pay or position, among other things. Like I said, it's the difference in the choices women and men tend to make that creates that gap, not systemic inequality.
I already read them. Only one of them mentions wages in specific jobs, mentioning middle school teachers, and it appears to be talking about all middle teachers, not specific employees being paid different amounts for the exact same work. It's also not sourced.
This video does a good job at explaining it, and it's sourced in the description.

Not a target for violence? 1 in 4 women will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime. Most violent crimes are against women. Most missing people are women. Why do you think women's shelters exist?
Wow you are hilariously misinformed. First that "1 in 4" stat has been debunked a ridiculous number of times. The sample size was much to small, it was a call in survey and they redefined sexual assault to the point where someone looking at you would be called assault. Second, where in the world did you hear that most violent crimes are against women?
i have no idea why you guys are being down-voted, when some ridiculous, wrong stat is being up-voted. I'll up-vote you guys and maybe you'll break even lol
Great for you but what about other countries? What about countries where woman aren't allowed to drive a car or even laugh in public? What about the difference in payment which still excists? What about the fact that a lot of companies choose a man over a woman with the same qualifications just for the reason that she might have children later and won't be able to work for some time? Just because you live in a town or a country where it's your opinion that you don't need feminism, doesn't mean the world doesn't need feminism. Feminists don't hate men. They hate inequality and the social structures which lead to inequality. I hate inequality but that goes both ways - not just towards women but towards men too. Like the prejudices against male kindergarten teachers. A lot of parents feel their kids aren't safe with male teachers because they could abuse them. That's unfair as well.
You don't need feminism. Okay whatever. Cool. But how about we stop being so self absorbed and thinking about me, me, me and try and become global citizens? Because sure, your life might not have oppression due to gender, but that doesn't mean no one's does. Downvote all you want, but this message is just perpetuating the us vs. them idea in first world countries where we ridicule actual advocacies in the world because they don't apply to us. And to the people who say you aren't doing or fixing anything, thats giving power to the oppressive body by saying well you are so poweful we are going to pretend your issues don't exist because we can't fix them. Also, if you want to help there are so many ways ie Women for Women.
Alright, here's why I DO need feminism:
• I am an adult and I take responsibility for my actions. Same should go for everyone right? So why is it that only 2% of rapists are convicted? Why is it that the victim gets blamed for it instead?
• I define myself and drive my value by my own standards. But why is it that when I have sex, society tells me I am nothing more than a slut? Why does my sexual behaviour define me? Why does my outfit determine my self worth?
• I am a target for violence. 1 in 6 American women have been the sexually abused. 82% of underage victims were female. Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women.
• I respect men. I expect the same respect and rights. While men are also victims of the patriarchy (higher suicide rates etc.) the truth is that the perpetrators for rape/abuse are most often men.
Just because you don't need it doesn't mean others don't. And honestly without feminism through history, your life would have been very different.
"Only 2% of rapists are convicted."
Source?
"Why does my sexual behavior define me?"
You are judged based on your actions. So is everybody else. Get over it.
"1 in 6 American women have been the (sic) sexually abused."
Proven to be untrue. Multiple times. Constantly in fact. This "stat" needs to die already.
"I expect the same respect and rights."
You have it. If not, name a right a man has that you don't.
"The patriarchy."
Does not exist. Period. Their is no patriarchy there is no "rape culture "
"The perpetrators for rape/abuse are most often men."
Actually it's equal. Men are just told to get over it and move on. In fact the CDC reports that men are actually more likely to be the victim of domestic abuse and receive almost no support.
wentzy, you just presented a Gish Gallop of questionable "facts" without citation. By doing so, you are undermining the very position you are trying to assert.
I think we need a name other than "feminism". Feminism is not about man hating, it's about ending sexism which affects men as well. If you need proof please refer the the post of the man who was raped as a child and the society who told him that it was ok because a woman was his rapist. Sexism is bullshit and hurts EVERYONE.
As long as you're living life the way /you/ want to live it, I support you 100%- regardless of what you do or don't choose to call yourself.

well alex I agree that you shouldn't live your life based on titles placed by society, but also you should really not leave such an over-reaching comment like that. There are obviously some people that should definitely not live their lives how they want lol I would say live your life like you want AS LONG AS it doesn't negatively affect the lives of those around you.
I see your point, but I meant it in terms of feminism; like, as long as you're making your own decisions and being your own person and doing what you want out of your own free will, it doesn't really matter if you call yourself a feminist or not.
Femenisim is the radical idea that women are people. And if you think there isn't a war hspoening, try getting birth control working at Hobby Loby, or abortion services in the south. The deck is stacked against women, and anyone who thjnks thst just because one woman isn't being beaten or raped, that everything is fine for the rest of women is a bullshit statement, which is what this post implies.
This makes me so angry. Feminism is equality. While the inequality is not nearly as prevalent in the United States, Canada, or other first world countries. Look at Saudi Arabia. Look at Pakistan. Look at places where you are not the issue. You may not need feminism directly, but other women do.
THIS IS SO STUPID! Women in the Middle East are viewed as objects that raise children and are killed for defending themselves against rapists (I can pull a source if you don't believe me) BUT THEY DONT NEED RIGHTS BECAUSE THIS WHITE GIRL HAS THEM AMIRITE?
I don't think it's quite true to say that it "just says she doesn't need it." Yeah, it says that she doesn't need feminism. But it also equates women who DO need feminism to juveniles who are incapable of taking responsibility for themselves or their actions, who hate men and mistakenly blame them for all of their problems. And while I'm generally a fairly nice person, I have absolutely no reservations in calling someone who would do that - who would take a fucking selfie and childishly make fun of women who are unable to show an inch of skin in public, who can't leave the house without their husband's permission, who are forced to undergo female genital mutilation as children, and who fucking well need feminism - a complete and utter nitwit.
"But it also equates women who DO need feminism to juveniles who are incapable of taking responsibility for themselves or their actions, who hate men and mistakenly blame them for all of their problems."
I don't think it does that.
None of those links provide anything other than the ~$0.85 per dollar figure that people erroneously label as a "wage gap". This title is erroneous because the statistics used to reach that number have nothing to do with wages. The number is based on the mean income of full time employees, so the number is evidence of an "income gap", not a "wage gap". There is no evidence that a woman doing the exact same job as a man will get paid less. This is already illegal.
I'll continue in an other post.
In reality, this gap is a result of women doing less/cheaper work than men. Women take far more maternity leave than men take paternity leave, men have a higher tendency to work over time and/or weekends, men have a higher tendency to take career paths with higher earning potential like sciences and trades, where women have a higher tendency to take less lucrative paths like the liberal arts, and men are much more likely to take jobs that pay more because they are hazardous. These and other factors like these are the reason men make more money than women, not discrimination between genders.
Taking these factors into account the gap becomes something close to $0.05 per dollar. This remaining gap can fairly easily, though admittedly not conclusively, be explained by the fact that, statistically, women are far less likely to negotiate for wage or position.
wow. I do not agree with what's written on that paper (just saying aha). i also wanna suggest that maybe the person that wrote on the paper doesn't actually know or understand what modern day feminism is about, or has negative experiences with "feminists".
All of this is stupid including her. Funny thing is being a woman wo can read, write and express an opinion on a large social scale wouldn't be possible without feminisim. What a nub.
Where I come from, in the last 4 months 33 women have been murdered, by men...that's two a week. We have an epidemic of violence against women. We have a social problem with the attitudes toward women. we need feminisim because we are not valued, we are hunted.
In Australia, and before you go ahead and try to justify or quantify the reasons these murders have happend, or suggest that "not all men" and "men get hurt to" let me tell you that last year three of my girlfriends were raped and one killed by men, that daily we are told to change how we live to prevent being hurt, but these women were at home, walking to uni during the day and in a cab going home. We need feminism because it's still seen as our problem to fix when we get hurt.
My question is is why has this only just recently become much more of an issue? If things are as you say and just two men were murdered in four months then that's a crazy shift from the norm.
Yeah you guys go find some stats, in the mean time I better stop walking outside and living in my home or going to work because that's were this stuffs happening. How about you look up the latest one where a teach was at work and the cleaner raped her, killed her then set her on fire a week before her wedding..guess she just shouldn't be working silly girl.
Yeah I have a huge issue with women getting murdered weekly, gender pay gaps, inequality in the work place, women being targeted with threats and abuse on the Internet.....I have a huge issue.
Yeah I do, you can to if you go to any Australian government based web sight. The statistics are average 1.5 women are killed each week in domestic violence situations plus a whole load more terrible findings, this isn't bias it's just sad sad facts. I'd link them but it's easy enough for you to look it up with a basic search.
All of those points are irrelevant to feminism. Feminism isn't about blaming mean or making women superior. It is about equality and fighting for the rights of everyone. The only reason one should be against feminism is if they believe that one gender is superior to another. Equality for all.
yeah way to misrepresent feminism guest...
if you ever say that someone's opinion doesn't matter that isn't representing the idea of equality which is literally the whole point of feminism...
As a feminist I agree that women's opinions don't matter. This is Earth and if you don't like the fact that men are superior to us, you can just go back to Portugal!
I will also always refuse to think or act like men are the devil, they are fantastic and we wouldnt be here without them

CNN disagrees. But if the mainstream media isn't credible enough which is fair, how about the White House?

They still think it exists.

So does Stanford University.
So, tell me again how it's been proven false.

Felixo77, I think you misunderstood me, I meant that the /rapists/ are most often male. Rape happens to men too of course and it is important to acknowledge them but women have a higher risk of being raped.
Hobby Lobby supports abortions, they sell hangers don't they?
Abortions are for NORTHERNERS only!
You hippie extremists need to go back to Portugal!

I don't think it does that.

Gosh it would be nice if this were true in practice.

Feminists recently pushed through the so called "Yes means Yes" law in California which does away with innocent until proven guilty and the burden of proof being on the accuser.

Feminists routinely block any bills that would change the legal definition of rape to allow for the possibility of female rapists.

Need I go on? And before you resort to the tired old "they aren't real feminists" defense, if they have the support to get laws passed in the name of your group, than they represent your group.
